Exploring the Pembrokeshire coastline by paddleboard offers a completely different perspective of the sea, with access to caves, hidden beaches, rocky inlets, and quieter sections of coast. These full-day adventures are designed for paddlers with some previous experience who want to build confidence on the sea while enjoying guided journeys through some of the area’s most scenic locations.
Coastal Paddleboard Trip – Improver/Intermediate: Spend the day paddling sections of the west or south Pembrokeshire coastline in moderate water conditions. Routes are chosen to suit tides, swell, and weather, with opportunities to explore caves, surf zones, rocky outcrops, and hidden beaches along the journey. Coaching and guidance are provided throughout the day to help paddlers develop confidence in moving water and coastal conditions.
Sheltered Paddleboard Trip – Beginner/Improver: Paddle calmer sections of coastline selected specifically to avoid stronger swell, wind, or current. These trips focus more on exploration and enjoyment of the coastline, while still helping paddlers improve confidence and sea awareness in manageable conditions. Expect time exploring caves, rock formations, beaches, and wildlife-rich areas along the route.
Both trips include regular breaks during the day, with time for lunch and recovery along suitable beaches or sheltered landing spots. Routes remain flexible to ensure conditions match the group’s experience level and provide the safest possible experience.
Journeys operate across the Pembrokeshire coastline, typically between Tenby on the south coast and Broad Haven on the west coast. Exact locations depend on weather, swell, tides, and the experience level of the group.
Meeting points are confirmed at least 24 hours before the trip, allowing instructors to select the best possible conditions for the day. WhatsApp groups are also used for updates, planning, and sharing photos after the session.
These trips are not suitable for complete beginners. Participants should already feel comfortable standing and paddling on a board, controlling direction, and getting back onto the board after falling into the water.
A reasonable level of fitness is important, as you may spend between 4 and 6 hours paddling throughout the day. Previous sea paddleboarding experience is helpful but not essential for sheltered trips.
Years of coaching and guiding experience across the Pembrokeshire coastline allow suitable routes to be chosen for changing conditions and varying ability levels. Paddle UK-qualified leaders provide practical support throughout the trip while maintaining small group sizes for safety and individual feedback.
Environmental awareness and local knowledge form an important part of every session, helping participants safely experience sections of coastline that are difficult to access from land. Fully maintained equipment and flexible route planning help ensure enjoyable and well-supported adventures on the water.
