Gliding along the coastline by paddleboard offers a relaxed but active way to explore hidden sections of the Pembrokeshire coast from the water. These guided tours combine coastal scenery, gentle adventure, and practical support from qualified Paddle UK SUP Coastal Leaders, creating an enjoyable experience for paddlers with some previous experience.
Setting off from Tenby South Beach, the tour follows sections of the south Pembrokeshire coastline towards St Catherine’s Island, the harbour, and Monkstone Beach. Along the way, you may paddle around rocky outcrops, pass small waterfalls, and explore sections of coastline that are difficult to access from land.
Before entering the water, instructors provide a safety briefing and ensure everyone is comfortable with the equipment and conditions. Guidance continues throughout the session, helping participants improve confidence and efficiency while navigating the coastline.
A short stop is usually included during the journey, giving paddlers time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and refuel before returning along the coast. Routes may vary slightly depending on tides and weather conditions on the day.
Tours operate from Tenby South Beach, a popular launch point providing access to sheltered coastline, beaches, and coastal landmarks including St Catherine’s Island and Monkstone Beach.
Conditions around the bay often allow for enjoyable coastal journeys while still remaining manageable for paddlers with basic paddleboarding experience. Alternative launch points may occasionally be used if required by weather conditions.
Participants should already feel comfortable standing and paddling on a board before joining the tour. Previous paddleboarding experience is required, although advanced skills are not necessary.
A reasonable level of fitness is important, as the session involves continuous paddling for extended periods along the coastline. Confidence in the water is also required in case of falling from the board.
