Finding time to pause can make a real difference to both your physical and mental wellbeing. These relaxed weekly sessions bring people together to enjoy the sea, fresh air and friendly company, creating a welcoming space where you can reconnect with nature at your own pace.
Rather than focusing on distance or performance, these sessions are all about slowing down and enjoying time outdoors. Each week the location is chosen according to the weather, sea conditions and the needs of those attending, creating the best possible environment for a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
You'll have the opportunity to enjoy a guided swim, dip or paddle, spend time chatting with like-minded people and simply appreciate being beside the sea. Nothing is compulsory, so you're welcome to take part in whichever activities feel right for you, making these sessions suitable whether you're completely new to wild swimming or already enjoy spending time in the water.
Every session takes place at a carefully chosen coastal location rather than one fixed venue. Beaches are selected the day before based on conditions, allowing the team to make the most of Pembrokeshire's sheltered bays and quieter stretches of coastline.
Regular venues include Dale, St Brides, Little Haven, Broad Haven, Druidston, Nolton and Newgale, although other locations may occasionally be used when conditions are particularly favourable. Final meeting details are shared before each session.
No previous wild swimming experience is required, and you don't need to consider yourself particularly fit to take part. The sessions are designed to be welcoming, supportive and suitable for a wide range of abilities.
Under 18s may be able to attend in certain circumstances, but this should always be discussed before booking. Everyone is encouraged to join in at a level that feels comfortable, with no pressure to complete any part of the session.
Supporting people's wellbeing through safe, enjoyable experiences by the sea has been central to this centre from the very beginning. Sue's background in swimming, lifesaving and water safety helps create a calm environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of confidence or experience.
Many guests return week after week because of the supportive community that has grown around these sessions. Alongside expert guidance and carefully chosen locations, it's the friendly atmosphere and shared enjoyment of spending time outdoors that people value most.
These sessions are open to anyone looking to spend more time outdoors, enjoy the sea and improve their overall wellbeing. Some people come for the physical benefits of cold water swimming, while others simply appreciate taking a couple of hours away from everyday life in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Whether you've never tried wild swimming before or already enjoy regular sea swims, you'll be made to feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Everyone participates at their own pace, and there's no expectation to do more than you're comfortable with.
Not at all. You're welcome to swim, dip, paddle or simply spend time by the water if that's what feels right for you. The emphasis is on wellbeing rather than swimming distance or ability.
Many people are surprised by how beneficial simply being beside the sea can feel. You're encouraged to listen to your body and enjoy the session in whichever way leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Pembrokeshire's coastline offers a huge variety of beaches, each suited to different weather and sea conditions. Rather than meeting at the same place every time, the team chooses the venue that will provide the safest and most enjoyable experience for the group.
This also means you'll gradually discover a range of beautiful locations across the county, from sheltered bays to quieter beaches that many visitors never find.
Many people find that spending time in cold water helps them feel calmer, more energised and better able to cope with everyday stresses. Alongside the physical effects of cold water immersion, simply spending time outdoors and connecting with nature can have a positive impact on overall wellbeing.
Everyone experiences these benefits differently, but many regular participants say they leave each session feeling refreshed, clear-headed and ready to face the rest of the week.
Bring your swimwear, towel, suitable footwear for the beach and clothing appropriate for the weather. Warm layers are particularly useful after your time in the water, even during the summer months.
If you already own a wetsuit or tow float you're welcome to bring them, although many participants choose to simply enjoy a gentle dip without needing lots of specialist equipment.
Weekday wellbeing sessions are held every Tuesday morning from 9:00am until 11:00am, providing a peaceful way to begin the day.
Weekend sessions take place on Sundays from 10:00am until 12:00pm during the winter season, giving those who work during the week another opportunity to enjoy the benefits of wild swimming.
Absolutely. These sessions are specifically designed to be welcoming and inclusive, with plenty of encouragement for anyone trying wild swimming for the first time.
You'll never be expected to swim further than you're comfortable with, and guidance is available throughout to help you feel safe and relaxed in the water.
