Harbour-front water and a line towards Goskar Rock make this a 2.5 hour family kayak from Tenby North Beach. Sit-on-tops, a short brief on the sand, then a paddle along the cliffs as the tide allows. Kayaks, paddles, buoyancy aids and wetsuits are included, and a guide stays with the group.
The coach sets a line that suits the group: a short harbour loop if it is windy, or a longer stretch towards the caves if it is calm. Practise a few strokes in the shallows before leaving the beach. Nobody is left to find their own way around the headland.
Come down 15 minutes early. The start moves with high tide, and we confirm the time the day before. Anyone under 18 needs an adult on the water. Old trainers or shoes that can get wet stay on in the kayak.
Tenby North Beach sits under the harbour wall. North Beach Car Park at SA70 8AG is the useful postcode. Walk to the seafront railings, cross, and come down to the sand. The meeting point is on the left, just below the red cafe with umbrellas.
The paddle stays in the bay unless the swell is kind, then it can look into small caves along the cliffs. Parking fills early in summer, so leave extra time.
Happy on the water is enough. No kayaking experience is needed. Children from 8 can join. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them in a kayak or close beside them.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer and shoes you are happy to get wet. Tell us any medical notes that affect time on the sea.
The start is on the sand, so you are not carrying a kayak through town. Guides have paddled this stretch for more than 20 years and hold ISA and beach lifeguard awards. Sessions are AALA licensed.
Sit-on-tops are stable for first-timers, and the guide stays with the group the whole way. Kit is fitted on the beach, then the rest of the 2.5 hours is on the water.
Park at North Beach Car Park, SA70 8AG, then walk towards town until you reach the seafront railings on your left. Cross the road and follow the walkway down to the sand.
We are on the left of the sand, just below the red cafe with umbrellas. Give yourself 15 minutes before the start. Tenby roads and car parks get busy, so leave extra time.
About two and a half hours from the sand and back, including a short brief and time on the water. Most of that window is spent paddling rather than standing on the beach talking.
Give yourself 15 minutes before the start so changing does not eat into the paddle. The start sits around high tide, and we confirm the time the day before.
Tenby North Beach. Park at North Beach Car Park, SA70 8AG, then walk towards the seafront railings, cross, and come down to the sand. We meet on the left, just below the red cafe with umbrellas.
Tenby roads and car parks get busy in summer, so leave extra time. If the start has to move with the tide, we send the new time rather than a new beach.
A sit-on-top kayak, a paddle, a buoyancy aid and a wetsuit, fitted on the sand. We match the craft to your size. Children can share a double with an adult when that fits better.
Leave phones and bags in the car. If someone needs medication on the water, give it to the guide at the start.
No. First-timers are the usual group. You should be happy on the water and able to follow a simple instruction. The guide shows you how to paddle and how to stay with the group before you leave the beach.
If you have paddled before, say so at the brief. The route can take in more cave time when the swell allows.
Eight. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them on the water. Children should be happy sitting in a kayak and getting a bit wet.
Tell us ages so we can put the right craft out. The pace stays with the least confident person, so a mixed family still works, just at a calmer speed.
Rain on its own does not stop a tour. We move time or hold the start when the wind or swell makes this stretch unsafe, or if we cannot run a useful paddle from North Beach.
Check your messages the evening before if you are travelling a long way, so you have the confirmed start before you leave.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer, sunscreen and shoes you are happy to get wet. A water bottle helps. Get changed into swimwear before you arrive if you want to skip the queue.
Flip-flops are fine for the walk down, then come off if they will not stay on in the kayak. Leave valuables in the car.
Happy in the sea is the bar. The kayaks are sit-on-tops, so you stay on the water rather than inside a closed cockpit, but you can still get wet and you still need to be comfortable with that.
A buoyancy aid is included and a guide stays with the group. If someone is very nervous, say so in advance so we can keep them closer to the beach at the start.
Goskar Rock sits off the beach, and the coloured harbour front shows from the water. On a calm day the route can look into small caves and along the cliffs towards the headland.
The exact line follows wind, swell and tide. We confirm the plan the day before so you know whether it is a short harbour paddle or a longer stretch along the coast.
Yes, as long as everyone is eight or over and happy on the water. The pace stays with the least confident person, so mixed ages still work on the same tour.
An adult needs to stay with anyone under 18. Tell us numbers and ages so we can put singles and doubles out on the sand.

Leon was an amazing instructor
Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
We enjoyed our kayaking thoroughly. Much thanks to Jenny who supported our ride plan and made changes accordingly. Big cheers to her 👏🏻🙌🏼
