A guided sea kayaking experience along the Tenby coastline, this 2-hour tour is designed to showcase the local coastline while building confidence on the water. Led by qualified paddlesport professionals with nationally recognised leadership and coaching awards, the session combines instruction with a coastal journey suitable for mixed ability groups.
The session begins on Tenby South Beach where you’ll meet your instructor and be fitted with all necessary equipment. A safety briefing follows, along with an introduction to paddling techniques before heading onto the water in sit-on-top kayaks chosen for their stability and ease of use.
From the beach, the route typically follows the coastline around St Catherine’s Island, past Tenby harbour and towards Monkstone Beach. Along the way, the instructor will guide the group through paddling technique, positioning and safe movement on the water while highlighting key features of the coastline.
Depending on conditions, the journey may include rocky outcrops, sheltered coves and areas where wildlife is often seen. A stop is usually included for a short break on the shoreline before the return paddle back to Tenby South Beach.
Tenby South Beach provides a wide sandy launch area with sheltered waters that make it a reliable starting point for coastal kayaking. It offers direct access to some of the most well-known sections of the Pembrokeshire coastline, with a mix of open views and more protected sections close to shore.
The surrounding area includes cliffs, small islands and varied coastal features that make each route slightly different depending on conditions. If weather or sea state is not suitable, an alternative sheltered launch location may be used with advance notice provided.
This tour is suitable for beginners through to improvers, and complete first-time paddlers can be supported throughout the session. Basic instruction is provided at the start to help participants get comfortable with the equipment and conditions.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to take part in a 2-hour outdoor activity that includes moderate physical effort. A reasonable level of mobility is needed for launching and landing from the beach.
This session is delivered by highly qualified instructors with advanced sea kayaking leadership, coaching and safety certifications recognised through the national governing body for paddlesports. The team follows structured safety systems and adapts sessions to conditions on the day to ensure a suitable experience for all participants.
The approach focuses on combining clear instruction with a guided coastal journey, helping participants develop confidence while exploring the coastline. Equipment is well-maintained and selected for stability, comfort and ease of use across a range of experience levels.
