Spend a full day or weekend exploring sections of coastline that aren’t accessible on shorter sessions. These trips combine guided journeys, wildlife encounters, and practical coaching to help you progress while covering more distance. A range of options are available, from sheltered beginner days through to more committing island crossings and multi-day adventures.
North Pembrokeshire – Intermediate: Spend two days exploring a stretch of coastline that can vary from Mwnt through to Abereiddy. Routes are chosen based on conditions, with time spent navigating rocky features, caves, and sections of swell or current. Wildlife sightings may include seals, porpoises, dolphins, and seabirds, with coaching at the start of each day and tips throughout.
Sheltered Sea Kayaking – Beginner: Paddle in calmer conditions close to shore, usually within 200 metres of the coastline. Expect time exploring caves, beaches, and rock formations, with a focus on building confidence and enjoying the journey. Suitable for beginners, with coaching provided early in the day and support throughout.
North Cornwall – Intermediate: Over multiple days, explore sections of the Cornish coastline such as Trevose Head, Tintagel, and Port Isaac. Each day is planned around conditions, with a mix of journeying and time spent playing in features like swell, surf, and rocky inlets. Coaching is included to help you develop skills in more open water environments.
Skomer Island – Intermediate: Begin with preparation and skills development before attempting a crossing to the island. Time is spent exploring the coastline, with the opportunity to paddle around the island and potentially land to see wildlife up close if conditions allow. Expect seabirds, seals, and a more committing paddling experience.
Green Scar / Solva – Improver/Intermediate: Travel between sections such as Porth Clais, Solva, and Newgale, taking in offshore rock features and coastal formations. Plenty of opportunities to paddle through arches, explore caves, and experience small surf zones. Coaching is included to help refine technique and decision-making on the water.
Stack Rocks / Little Haven – Improver/Intermediate: Navigate a coastline known for its offshore stacks and wildlife, with routes between Little Haven and Martin’s Haven. Expect consistent opportunities for rock hopping and cave exploration, alongside guidance on handling moderate conditions.
Ramsey Island – Intermediate: Build up skills on day one before tackling crossings and stronger tidal flows around Ramsey Sound. Routes may include sections around the island, with a focus on understanding moving water and improving confidence in more committing environments. Wildlife sightings are common throughout.
Caldey Island – Intermediate: Plan crossings and routes based on tides, with the aim of paddling around the island when conditions allow. The surrounding coastline offers caves, rock features, and varied water movement, making it ideal for those looking to progress their paddling in a controlled but challenging setting.
Anglesey Weekend – Improver/Intermediate: Spend two days exploring different sections of the Anglesey coastline, with routes chosen to suit conditions and group ability. Day one focuses on planning and skills, while day two builds on that with a more progressive journey including features such as swell and moving water.
An optional skills session is available before selected trips for those wanting extra preparation. This takes place on a separate date, and you will be contacted after booking if you would like to add it. Sessions focus on paddling technique, safety, and building confidence ahead of more challenging conditions.
Trips take place across a wide range of coastal locations, including Tenby, North Pembrokeshire, Solva, St Brides Bay, and offshore islands such as Skomer, Ramsey, and Caldey. Some options also extend beyond the region to areas like North Cornwall and Anglesey, giving access to different styles of coastline and conditions.
Meeting points vary depending on the specific trip and are chosen to match the weather and tides. You will receive confirmation at least 24 hours before your session, along with any final details. Each location offers a mix of cliffs, caves, beaches, and open water, providing varied paddling experiences across the trips.
Beginner-level options are suitable for those new to sea kayaking, although a reasonable level of fitness is expected as you will be active for several hours. Confidence in water is helpful, and full instruction is provided to get you started safely.
Intermediate and improver trips require previous kayaking experience, ideally on the sea or whitewater. You should be comfortable paddling for extended periods and managing a capsize with assistance. If you are unsure whether a trip suits your ability, it is recommended to discuss your experience before booking.
Experienced leaders with Paddle UK qualifications guide every trip, ensuring a strong focus on safety while still allowing for progression and exploration. Small group sizes make it easier to provide individual feedback, helping each paddler improve throughout the experience.
Extensive knowledge of the local coastline allows routes to be adapted to conditions, giving you the best possible experience on the day. Well-maintained equipment is provided, and optional skills sessions offer an extra step for those wanting to build confidence before joining more advanced trips.
