Kick off your weekend with expert-led bodyboard coaching in Newquay, designed for all abilities. Over two full days, you'll receive personalised guidance, learn new techniques, and ride some of the best waves Cornwall has to offer. The combination of practical sessions, video feedback, and local knowledge ensures genuine improvement and fun.
The weekend is structured to maximise your time in the water. Each day includes two or three guided in-water sessions, chosen based on swell, tides, and conditions to ensure you catch the best waves. During the sessions, instructors will provide demonstrations, move-by-move breakdowns, and individual feedback. Certain sessions will be filmed so you can analyse your technique in later review sessions.
Between water sessions, there are interactive Q&A discussions covering surf prediction, fitness, safety, and bodyboarding equipment. Our instructors also provide tips on travel, local spots, and general surf lifestyle, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience. Social time is built in, with refreshments available at the centre and opportunities to connect with fellow participants.
By the end of the weekend, even complete beginners will leave with noticeable progress, while more experienced riders can expect refined skills and techniques. Your instructors will guide you through every stage of learning, tailoring coaching to your individual needs, and helping you get the most out of your time on the waves.
Newquay is renowned as the UK’s surf capital, offering a variety of beaches suitable for different conditions and skill levels. The town is vibrant, with lively cafés, shops, and a welcoming surf community. Our central HQ is just a short walk from Towan and Fistral beaches, making access to the best waves quick and convenient.
The surrounding coastline features multiple sandy bays with varying wave sizes, giving participants a chance to experience diverse conditions. From early morning sessions to late afternoon rides, you’ll benefit from the local knowledge of our instructors, who constantly monitor forecasts and tides to maximise your learning experience.
We offer two recommended apartments with comfortable, sociable spaces ideal for bodyboarders. Sunset View Apartment on Pentire Headland is a 5-minute walk from South Fistral Beach and the Gannel Estuary, while Newquay Bay Apartment on Fore Street is just 2 minutes from Towan Beach and Newquay Harbour. Both feature lounges, communal dining areas, and well-equipped kitchens.
Guests also receive 10% off all activities during their stay. For alternative options, local hotels, guest houses, and Airbnb properties are within walking distance, and Trethiggey Holiday Park Camping offers space for tents or motorhomes.
No prior experience is required, just a willingness to learn and enjoy the water. Beginners and more experienced riders are all welcome, as coaching is adapted to suit individual skill levels.
All participants should be comfortable in the sea and able to swim. A moderate level of fitness is helpful but not essential.
The centre prides itself on high-quality equipment and expert instructors, ensuring safety and progression for every participant. Wetsuits, bodyboards, and fins are supplied in appropriate sizes, and changing facilities and secure storage are available. This attention to detail allows you to focus fully on learning and improving your bodyboarding skills.
Our instructors have in-depth local knowledge, allowing you to make the most of Newquay’s beaches and waves. From guided sessions to video feedback and personalised coaching, the weekend is carefully planned to ensure every participant gains confidence, improves skills, and enjoys the unique surf culture of Cornwall.
No prior experience is necessary to join the weekend. Our coaching is designed to cater for all abilities, from complete beginners to more advanced riders. The instructors will assess your skill level on arrival and tailor guidance to suit your individual needs, ensuring everyone can progress at a comfortable pace.
Even if you’ve never stepped on a bodyboard before, you’ll quickly gain confidence. The weekend includes step-by-step demonstrations, personalised feedback, and safety instruction so that you can enjoy riding waves while improving your technique.
All essential equipment is provided, including bodyboards, wetsuits, and swim fins. The instructors will ensure that each participant has gear correctly sized for their height, weight, and ability, giving you the best chance of learning effectively.
You are welcome to bring personal items like rash vests, gloves, or water shoes if you prefer, but it is not essential. Don’t forget a towel, sun protection, and a change of clothes for after your sessions to stay comfortable throughout the weekend.
Each day is split into two or three guided in-water sessions, depending on conditions and season. Sessions are carefully timed to make the most of local swells and tides, and instructors constantly monitor wave quality to ensure you get the best possible practice.
Between water sessions, there are video review and Q&A sessions covering topics such as technique, surf safety, and equipment advice. This structured approach allows participants to immediately apply feedback and see measurable progress across the weekend.
Yes, feedback is a core part of the weekend. Two of your sessions will be filmed so instructors can analyse your technique and offer detailed, personalised advice. You’ll also have practical demonstrations to break down key moves and refine your form.
This combination of video and on-the-spot guidance helps you understand your strengths and areas for improvement. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have a clear plan for continuing to improve independently, as well as confidence in your bodyboarding abilities.
The weekend is suitable for participants aged 8 and above. Younger participants are welcome as long as they are confident in the water and can follow instructions safely.
Family members or groups with mixed ages can participate together. Our instructors adjust the coaching approach to suit each participant, ensuring that younger or less experienced riders still get a rewarding and safe experience.
The instructors plan sessions around changing weather and swell conditions. If waves are small or conditions are less ideal, sessions are adapted to focus on technique, movement drills, or alternative nearby beaches with better surf.
Safety is always the priority. If the sea becomes unsafe for bodyboarding, instructors may adjust activities or hold onshore coaching sessions, such as video analysis, fitness drills, or equipment workshops, so you still gain value from the weekend.
