Join us for early and late surf sessions with Joe, perfect for those who relish the magical ambience of these special times of day. Whether you're a seasoned surfer or just starting out, everyone is welcome to experience the exhilaration of catching waves under expert guidance.
Immerse yourself in the invigorating experience of early and late surf sessions with Joe. Begin by arriving at the beachside half an hour before the session to prepare. You'll be provided with a wetsuit and board, or you're welcome to bring your own.
After a brief check-in, venture on a short walk to the beach where Joe will lead a comprehensive introduction. The session kicks off with a yoga-inspired warm-up, incorporating bodyweight exercises, visualisation, and breath work to prepare both body and mind for the water.
Once in the ocean, spend one and a half hours honing your surfing skills under Joe's expert guidance. After the exhilarating water time, reconvene for a debriefing session where insights and tips are shared to enhance your learning experience.
Sessions are conducted partially outside of lifeguarded hours, with Joe, a fully trained and qualified Emergency Medical Technician.
Based in Newquay, our surf school sits in an ideal location with direct access to Watergate Bay, a well-known surf spot with reliable waves.
The beach offers varied conditions suitable for different levels, making it a great place to practise and progress. There’s parking nearby, and our facilities provide everything you need for a comfortable session before and after your time in the water.
No prior surfing experience is needed. However, participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and feel confident swimming in open water.
Joe has spent years perfecting his craft, not just as a surfer but as a dedicated coach who understands how to get the best out of every participant. His approach balances technical knowledge with a deep appreciation for the ocean, ensuring that each session is informative, supportive, and enjoyable.
Small group sizes mean more time for individual coaching, allowing you to focus on specific areas of improvement. Whether you’re aiming to catch your first unbroken wave or fine-tune advanced techniques, these sessions provide the ideal setting to build skills, gain confidence, and connect with the surf community.
Absolutely! Joe's surf sessions cater to all skill levels, including beginners. With expert guidance and a supportive atmosphere, even first-timers can feel confident catching waves.
Bring a towel, a full water bottle, and your enthusiasm! Wetsuits and boards are provided, but feel free to bring your own if preferred. Don't forget sunscreen and snacks for after the session.
Yes! We're one of the only surf schools in the Newquay area with private parking for our customers and definitely the most spacious.
Our safe carpark overlooks the beautiful Watergate Bay. If you say you’re with the surf school, you'll get a discounted rate.
You should aim to get here 20 mins before your lesson.
If you're running late just let us know. Be aware that Cornwall can get very busy in the summer so it's best to leave early. When you get here, you can grab some food and drinks, and take in the view before your lesson starts.
Surfing is one of the few family activities in Newquay that's rarely affected by the weather. We use premium, warm wetsuits that work year round and have brand new heated changing rooms. As well as the Hang Out cafe for hot drinks afterwards.
The only time your lesson may be cancelled is if the winds are too high, the swell is too strong or there's heavy fog. If the beach has red flagged these, we'll contact you to rearrange or refund your surf lesson with as much notice as possible.
Luckily this only happens once or twice a season.
