Whether you are planning a relaxed bodyboarding session in the shore break or heading out for a full day of surfing, the flexible hire options allow you to choose the setup that suits your plans and experience level.
Situated directly within Newquay Harbour, the hire centre provides quick access to several nearby beaches, including Towan Beach just a short walk away. Fistral Beach and other surf spots can also be reached easily from the harbour depending on the day’s surf conditions.
The central location makes equipment collection simple, while the surrounding coastline gives visitors plenty of options for different wave conditions and ability levels throughout the day.
Surfboard and bodyboard hire is intended for participants who already feel confident using the equipment independently and understand basic beach safety and self-rescue awareness.
All equipment hires are weather and sea condition dependent. Participants hiring equipment must be aged 18 or over and provide photo ID, a credit card and a fully charged mobile phone during collection.
Drawing on years of surfing and watersports experience, the team helps visitors choose suitable equipment and local beaches based on the day’s conditions and individual confidence levels. Safety guidance, local knowledge and wildlife protection information are all included before heading onto the water.

Visitors can hire learner surfboards, bodyboards and wetsuits in a range of hire durations depending on their plans for the day.
Additional accessories including waterproof phone cases and dry bags are also available separately when collecting equipment.
Yes, bodyboards are often one of the easiest ways to get started in the waves and are suitable for both children and adults.
Many visitors choose bodyboarding for a more relaxed beach session or as an introduction before progressing into surfing lessons later on.
Towan Beach is the closest beach to the harbour and can be reached within a few minutes on foot. Fistral Beach and other nearby surf spots are also easily accessible depending on the surf conditions.

Yes, equipment can be hired until 5pm, allowing plenty of time to explore different beaches and spend the day on the water.
Longer or multi-day hires may also be available depending on availability.
Wetsuits are available separately and can be hired in 1 hour, 3 hour or until 5pm durations to match your surf or bodyboard session.
A wetsuit is recommended throughout most of the year due to Cornish water temperatures.
Participants hiring surfboards or bodyboards should already feel comfortable entering the water independently and understand basic beach safety.
