The journey begins with a meeting in Pembroke Dock, where vehicles will transfer the group to the launch point near Llangwm. From there, you will paddle downstream along the Daugleddau estuary, returning to the original meeting spot in Pembroke Dock. This route combines calm waters with scenic riverside views and plenty of wildlife.
Participants will gather at Pembroke Dock, where the guides will provide buoyancy aids, paddles, and dry bags for belongings. After a safety briefing and a basic introduction to paddling, the group will be driven to the launch site near Llangwm. Once on the water, the journey begins downstream, making use of the tidal flow to ease paddling efforts.
During the trip, guides will offer paddling advice and share knowledge about the local wildlife and historical features visible along the estuary. The pace is relaxed, with stops planned to rest and enjoy the surroundings. The tour concludes back at Pembroke Dock, where you started, providing convenient access for your return.
Pembroke Dock is a historic port town with accessible parking and facilities. The launch point near Llangwm is set along the upper Daugleddau estuary, known for its peaceful waters and rich wildlife.
The paddle route follows the estuary’s natural flow, passing saltmarshes, riverside buildings, and areas of diverse habitats that support birds, fish, and other species.
No previous paddling experience is required, though participants should be comfortable sitting in a canoe for several hours. A medical declaration form must be completed before the tour.
Clothing should be suitable for variable weather conditions, including waterproof layers and shoes that can get wet. It’s recommended to bring sun protection, water, and any necessary personal medication.
The guides are experienced and attentive, with a strong understanding of the local environment and safety procedures. They provide tailored support to suit each participant’s level, helping ensure a confident and enjoyable experience on the water.
