Explore Newquay’s coastline at your own pace with flexible kayak hire from the harbour. With access to calm sheltered water, nearby beaches and scenic coastal routes, kayak hire is ideal for confident paddlers wanting to explore independently while enjoying easy access to the water.
The hire centre is located directly within Newquay Harbour, providing quick access to calm water and nearby launch points. Towan Beach sits just a short walk away, while Fistral Beach and other sections of coastline are easily accessible for more experienced paddlers.
The harbour itself offers a relaxed environment for getting started before moving towards more open coastal paddling routes. Its sheltered position makes it one of the more approachable locations in Newquay for independent kayaking hire.
Kayak hire is intended for participants who already feel confident paddling independently and understand basic water safety and self-rescue techniques. If unsure, beginner lessons are recommended before hiring equipment independently.
All hires are weather and sea condition dependent. Participants hiring equipment must be aged 18 or over and provide photo ID, a credit card and a fully charged mobile phone at collection.
Using years of experience within watersports and coastal safety, the team provides quality equipment alongside practical local advice to help visitors enjoy Newquay’s waters responsibly. Safety maps, harbour guidance and wildlife information are all included as part of the hire process to help paddlers feel prepared before heading out.
Mel helps visitors choose suitable equipment and hire durations while ensuring groups receive the information they need before entering the water. Operating directly from the harbour also gives easy access to sheltered launch areas and nearby coastal routes.
Single and tandem kayaks are available depending on whether you want to paddle alone or with another person. Tandem kayaks are especially popular with families and younger participants sharing with adults.
Hire durations include 1 hour, 3 hours and until 5pm options, with longer hires available on request.
