Over two hours, you’ll receive focused attention from a qualified instructor, learning advanced techniques from wave selection to speed generation. Perfect for ages 8 and up, this session is ideal for surfers looking to improve confidence, control, and creativity on the waves.
Your lesson begins with a lively warm-up on the beach, followed by a safety briefing and ocean assessment. You’ll discuss surfing terminology, positioning in the sea, and how to read the ocean for wave patterns, swells, tides, and currents. This ensures you understand where to paddle and which waves to catch for maximum performance.
In the water, your instructor focuses on advanced techniques, including trimming your board for longer rides, executing smooth turns, and maintaining speed. The 1:1 format allows coaching to be tailored entirely to your ability, highlighting areas for improvement and providing continuous feedback.
You’ll also explore manoeuvrability and technical moves such as bottom turns and top turns, with the option to experiment creatively on the wave. The session is paced according to your skill level, giving you the confidence to progress while fully enjoying the experience.
Lessons take place at Newquay’s premier surf beaches, including Fistral and Great Western Beach. These locations are renowned for consistent waves suitable for advanced techniques, with golden sands and accessible entry points.
The surrounding coastline features scenic cliffs, rock formations, and panoramic ocean views. Instructors select the ideal beach based on conditions to maximise learning and safety, ensuring you get the best experience Newquay has to offer.
Participants should already be able to ride white-water and green waves confidently. A basic understanding of surfing and swimming ability is essential for safety and skill progression.
No prior advanced experience is needed beyond intermediate surfing skills. The lesson is designed to accelerate development and refine technique under expert supervision.
