As the light drops over Hurghada, you'll follow a guided ATV quad through the desert and a slower camel walk on the same sand, with hotel collection included. The outing is about three hours, timed for late afternoon rather than a midday run. No license is required if you stay with the guide.
Golden light washes the dunes as the ATV quad follows the guide across tracked sand toward low hills inland of Hurghada. Throttle, brakes and spacing are covered in a short briefing before the group rolls out at a pace first-timers can hold.
Engines fall silent and the pace slows to a camel walk through the same desert as the sun drops toward the horizon. Handlers stay beside each animal while they kneel for mounting, and the temperature cools quickly once the light fades.
The ride uses open sand close to the Hurghada hotel belt rather than a remote overnight camp. Low hills and tracked dunes sit a short drive inland from the coast road, which is why the three hours include transfer as well as time on the bikes. Shade is limited once you leave the garage, and the later start is the point of this outing so you are not on the dunes in the middle of the day. Tracked sand throws dust, especially if you sit behind another bike, so a scarf over the nose and mouth is useful.
Collection covers the usual Hurghada resort belt. Distances along the strip mean pickup windows can stretch, so be ready early at reception. Give your hotel name when you book so the driver can find the right gate. Traffic along the strip can slow the van, and a late start shortens time on the sand because the group leaves together. The return to the hotel is after dark on some days, so keep a light or your phone torch handy at reception.
No ATV or camel qualification is required. You should be happy holding a quad on soft sand and then sitting on a camel, which stands and kneels in a rolling motion. Tell the team if you have never ridden either, so they can keep you on a slower line. Mention ages when you confirm your place, because who drives and who rides as a passenger is a crew decision on the day based on height, reach and how settled a child is. The camel section is usually easier for younger guests than the ATV drive.
Wear long trousers and closed shoes; shorts and flip-flops leave skin open to sun and sand thrown up by the tires. Bring sun protection, water and a scarf for dust, plus a warm layer for when the temperature falls after sunset. Keep the evening free so the three-hour window is not squeezed around other plans. Leave loose jewelry in the hotel, and use a small bag in the transfer vehicle rather than bouncing loose on the ATV. Contact-lens wearers often prefer glasses on this outing because grit in the air is normal on the loop.
Hotel collection and a three-hour sunset mix of ATV and camel keep the outing compact from a Hurghada hotel. A guide stays with the group on both stretches, from the briefing at the garage to the handlers on the camel walk. The start is timed for late light on the dunes rather than a midday loop, which is the practical way to sit on open sand in this climate. You follow one team from the bikes to the camels and back to the hotel on the same run.
Pickup covers the usual Hurghada resort belt, so most hotel guests can join without arranging a separate taxi inland. First-timers can stay on a slower line, and a passenger seat is often possible if you would rather not drive. The later start means you are not giving up a full day. Keep the rest of the evening loosely free so you are not rushing back for a meal immediately after the return.
We'll collect you from your Hurghada hotel and runs inland to the desert garage. Be ready in the pickup window with closed shoes and a scarf. The transfer sits inside the three hours, so Arriving late at reception cuts into time on the sand.
After a short briefing you follow the guide on an ATV across tracked sand toward the hills as the sun drops. Keep your spacing, watch the rider in front, and ease off the throttle on soft patches.
You switch to camels for a slower walk through the same landscape. Handlers stay beside the animals as they stand and kneel. After photos and a pause, the group loads for the drive back to the hotel.
Yes. Collection from hotels in the Hurghada area is part of this safari. Give your hotel name when you book so the driver can find the right gate, and be ready in the pickup window because traffic along the strip can slow the van.
The three hours include the transfer, the ATV quad and the camel stretch. Arriving late at reception cuts into time on the sand.
No previous ATV time is required. You get a short briefing on throttle, brakes and spacing before the group rolls out, and the guide sets a pace first-timers can follow on tracked sand.
If you would rather not drive, say so at the base. A passenger seat on a two-up bike is often possible when the crew have a spare place.
The camel stretch is the slower second half after the ATV quad, not a full three hours on an animal. It is a guided walk through the same desert, with time to sit and look around as the light drops.
Camels kneel to let you on and stand with a rolling motion. Hold the saddle and wait for the handler. If sitting astride is uncomfortable, tell the guide before you mount.
Closed shoes, long sleeves or a cover-up, and a scarf for dust make the ATV section more comfortable. Shorts and flip-flops leave skin open to sun and sand thrown up by the tyres.
Sunglasses with a strap and sunscreen matter on both the bikes and the camel. Leave loose jewellery in the hotel. A small bag is useful in the transfer vehicle, not bouncing loose on the ATV.
Share ages when you confirm your place. Who drives an ATV and who rides as a passenger is a crew decision on the day, based on height, reach and how settled a child is on a moving bike.
The team can say whether a child should sit behind an adult. The camel section is usually easier for younger guests than the ATV drive.
Lunch is not included. Eat before you leave the hotel, and carry water for the wait and the loop. Do not rely on a meal in the desert.
The outing is timed for late light, so a late lunch at the hotel before pickup is the practical plan.
The start is set for late afternoon so you are on the sand as the sun drops. Exact clock times shift with the season. Follow the pickup window you are given rather than arriving on your own clock.
Bring a layer for when the temperature falls after sunset. The return to the hotel is after dark on some days, so keep a light or your phone torch handy at reception.
Tracked sand throws dust, especially if you sit behind another bike. A scarf over the nose and mouth and glasses with a strap help. Helmets are used when the crew issue them at the base.
Rinse faces and kit when you are back at the hotel. Contact-lens wearers often prefer glasses on this outing because grit in the air is normal on the loop.
Open desert around Hurghada can still be hot at the start of a sunset loop. Carry water, cover shoulders, and use sunscreen on the backs of hands as well as face.
Shade is limited once you leave the garage. The later start is the point of this outing, so you are not on the dunes in the middle of the day.
Three hours covers collection, the ATV quad, the camel stretch and the drive back. Arriving late at reception cuts into time on the sand because the group leaves together.
Keep the rest of the evening loosely free so you are not rushing back for a late dinner immediately after the return.
