Four different activities fill this Hurghada desert evening: a quad bike ride across the dunes, a buggy drive with a guide, a camel ride at a Bedouin village and a barbecue dinner with a live oriental show. Bottled water is provided throughout, and hotel transfers run both ways.
Following hotel pickup, the afternoon opens with a quad bike ride across open dunes outside Hurghada, chosen for a mix of soft sand and gentler terrain suited to first-time riders. The group then switches vehicles for a buggy drive over a different stretch of desert, led throughout by an experienced guide.
From there, the trip continues to a Bedouin village for traditional tea and a look around, followed by a camel ride as the light starts to fade towards sunset. A barbecue dinner with a live oriental show brings the evening to a close, before a return transfer to the hotel.
Desert surrounding Hurghada offers a mix of open dune fields and firmer tracks, which is why this trip combines quad and buggy sections rather than sticking to one vehicle type. Each stretch has a slightly different feel, from the looser sand of the dunes to the more compact ground used for the buggy leg.
Set away from the busy hotel strip along the coast, the Bedouin village gives a quieter, more traditional setting for the evening's camel ride, tea and dinner. Arriving as the sun starts to set adds to the contrast with Hurghada's built-up seafront just a short drive away.
No previous experience is needed for either the quad or the buggy sections, and both come with a safety briefing before setting off. Guests should be comfortable holding onto handlebars or a steering wheel for an extended period.
Reasonable confidence getting on and off a camel later in the evening also helps, though handlers are on hand throughout. Closed shoes, long trousers and a scarf or light headwear are worth bringing, given the dust kicked up during the vehicle sections.
Combining quad, buggy, camel and dinner into a single evening suits guests who want a full flavour of desert activities without booking several separate trips.
The mix of vehicle types also breaks the ride up, so the afternoon does not feel like the same activity repeated twice, while the sunset timing gives the camel ride and dinner show an atmosphere a daytime trip would not match.
