This 5-day trek takes you through the heart of the Atlas Mountains, culminating in the ascent of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Combining amazing scenery, cultural experiences, and local hospitality, this programme provides a unique adventure for trekking enthusiasts.
Day 1: Marrakech Airport - Imlil (1740M)
Upon arrival at Marrakech Airport, you'll be driven to Imlil, passing through Berber towns and the scenic Moulay Brahim Gorge. A stop at a Berber Argan cooperative offers a chance to learn about traditional Argan oil production. The day concludes with a short hike to the village of Around for an overnight stay in a guest house.
Day 2: Acclimatisation Day - Imlil to Tizi Mezzik (2490M)
After breakfast, begin your hike towards Tizi Mezzik Pass (2490M), enjoying views of the surrounding mountains. Lunch will be served under juniper trees, with an optional summit hike to 2750M for those seeking an extra challenge. You will then return to the guest house for the evening.
Day 3: Imlil (1800M) - Chamharouch - Toubkal Refuge (3207M)
Start the day with a trek through Aroumd village, stopping at Chamharouch for a riverside lunch prepared by our cook. Continue your journey up to the Toubkal Refuge, where you'll spend the night. All meals are freshly prepared, ensuring quality and nutrition.
Day 4: Toubkal Refuge - Toubkal Summit (4167M) - Return to Refuge
Begin the ascent to Toubkal Summit early in the morning. Once at the peak, you'll have time to soak in the panoramic views before descending back to the refuge. If conditions allow, a different trail (Ikhibi) may be taken on the return journey. You'll overnight at the refuge.
Day 5: Toubkal Refuge - Imlil - Marrakech
Descend to the village of Aroumd, where you'll enjoy a traditional lunch in one of the oldest homes in the Imlil valley or by the river. After lunch, return to Marrakech for the conclusion of your adventure.
The trek starts in Imlil, a scenic village in the High Atlas Mountains, just 64 kilometres from Marrakech. The region offers a diverse landscape of rugged peaks, verdant valleys, and traditional Berber villages.
The area is renowned for its welcoming communities, rich cultural heritage, and impressive mountain scenery, making it an ideal destination for trekkers and nature lovers.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be comfortable with several hours of hiking each day at high altitudes. Prior trekking experience is an advantage but not necessary.

The trek is available year-round, but the best time is generally from April to October when the weather is more stable.
Summer offers warmer temperatures, while spring and autumn provide cooler, comfortable conditions for trekking. Winter treks are possible but require additional equipment due to snow.
The trek requires a moderate level of fitness. Participants should be comfortable hiking for several hours each day, with some steep ascents and high-altitude conditions.
While no technical climbing skills are needed, prior hiking experience is beneficial.
Essential items include sturdy hiking boots, layered clothing for varying temperatures, a waterproof jacket, a daypack, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), a reusable water bottle, and personal toiletries.
In winter, additional gear such as crampons and an ice axe may be required.
Yes, the trek can accommodate beginners with a good level of fitness. Our guides provide support and adjust the pace to ensure everyone can enjoy the experience.
However, it’s recommended that beginners do some preparation, such as regular walks or hikes, prior to the trek.
Meals are freshly prepared by our cooks and include a variety of traditional Moroccan dishes. Expect hearty breakfasts, packed lunches, and nourishing dinners.
Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice.
Accommodation is in a traditional guest house in the village of Around and a mountain refuge at higher altitudes.
The guest house offers a comfortable, rustic experience, while the refuge provides basic, communal sleeping arrangements.
Both options offer a unique opportunity to immerse in the local culture.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone above 2,500 metres. Our itinerary is designed to allow proper acclimatisation, with a gradual ascent and an acclimatisation day.
Guides are trained to recognise and manage altitude sickness symptoms. Participants should inform the guides immediately if they feel unwell.
