Day 1: The adventure begins with an early departure from Marrakech to Imlil (1,745m), where the trek commences. As you walk through lush valleys, you'll pass charming Berber villages, gaining insight into local culture. A lunch stop at the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,350m) provides a moment to rest and refuel before continuing the ascent to the Toubkal Refuge (3,207m). Expect to trek for approximately six hours, taking in the wonderful scenery that surrounds you.
Day 2: Rising early, you will set out to conquer Toubkal (4,167m). The climb will reward you with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and even glimpses of the Sahara in the distance. Once at the summit, relish the beauty of the sunrise and the panoramic vistas before descending back to Imlil for an overnight stay in a local village, allowing you to reflect on the day's achievement.
Day 3: The journey continues as you depart Imlil and head towards Ait Benhaddou. The drive will take you through numerous Berber towns, culminating in a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. After exploring this historical kasbah, you'll travel to the Dades Valley, with an overnight stay nestled within the gorges. Expect a full day of travel and exploration, roughly seven hours of travel.
Day 4: After breakfast, you will visit the dramatic Dades Gorge before proceeding to Todra Gorge. Here, enjoy a refreshing mint tea while taking in the gorgeous landscapes. The day includes a scenic drive through beautiful towns before arriving at Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. As dusk falls, ride camels into the vast dunes and witness the sunset. A night spent under the stars in a traditional Berber tent, accompanied by local music, rounds off an unforgettable day.
Day 5: The final day begins with a sunrise over the Sahara before breakfast at your accommodation. Following a shower and freshening up, you will make your way back to Marrakech, passing through charming towns and scenic vistas, including the Draa Valley. Expect approximately eight hours of travel back to Marrakech, reflecting on the unforgettable experiences gained over the past few days.
