Shorter half-day version combining a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Palmeraie with a condensed guided tour of Marrakech's city and souks. When time in Marrakech is short, this half-day version keeps the sunrise balloon and a condensed medina walk in a single morning of about 5 hours. You'll still fly for around an hour over the Palmeraie, then cover key landmarks and souks at a quicker pace than the full-day tour. The rest of your day stays free once we drop you back.
Balloon time follows the same format as the longer city combination, with pickup around 5:30 to 6 am and around an hour in the air as the sun comes up over the Atlas. Champagne and breakfast come after landing, then your guide takes a shorter, focused walk through the medina and souks.
The route covers the main landmarks and market areas without stretching into the afternoon. If the flight cannot run due to weather, we will be in touch as early as we can, and the city portion can typically still go ahead.
On the edge of Marrakech, the Palmeraie launch field is linked by private transfer to a shorter walk in the central medina and souks. Most mornings you are back at your hotel or riad by late morning.
You keep the same two-part structure as the full-day version, just condensed. The balloon portion uses the Palmeraie, and the city portion stays in central medina and souk streets. Private transfer keeps those two stops inside one morning.
You should be comfortable standing in the basket for around an hour and with a shorter spell on foot through busy medina streets. No prior experience is needed for the flight or the walk.
Comfortable walking shoes help on uneven ground, and warm layers are useful for the pre-dawn pickup. Share ages when you enquire if you are travelling with children, as the early start and an hour standing in the basket can be hard on very young guests.
We work from Marrakech and take care of the early hotel or riad pickup, the launch timing, and the drop-off after the condensed city walk. Local knowledge of the Palmeraie field and the medina is how we fit both into about 5 hours without you arranging a second booking. You'll deal with one team for the whole morning.
What is different here is the length, not the balloon itself. You still get around an hour in the air plus champagne and breakfast, then a shorter English-speaking introduction to the souks, which suits a tighter Marrakech schedule.
You are collected very early from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, usually around 5:30 to 6am, for the transfer to the Palmeraie balloon launch site. Many riads sit on pedestrian lanes, so the driver may park nearby and meet you on foot for the pre-dawn pickup.
After the condensed city and souks tour, you are dropped back at the nearest accessible point to your accommodation, usually by late morning. Share your hotel or riad name and a mobile number when you enquire so pickup logistics stay simple.
You are collected very early from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, usually around 5:30 to 6am, for the transfer to the balloon launch site in the Palmeraie.
Share your accommodation details when you enquire so pickup can be confirmed for your date.
This half-day version condenses the city and souks portion into a shorter walk, covering key highlights rather than the fuller tour offered in the full-day package.
The balloon flight itself is the same length and format across both versions.
The combined balloon flight and shortened city tour runs for approximately 5 hours door to door, from the early pickup through to the end of the city portion.
Exact timings can vary slightly depending on the season.
No, the flight is led by certified pilots and crew who give a full safety briefing before takeoff, so first-timers are well looked after.
Balloon flights are weather dependent, so timings can shift slightly if conditions require it.
The condensed portion focuses on key landmarks and souks areas within Marrakech's medina, giving a solid introduction without the length of the full-day tour.
Your guide adjusts the route slightly depending on time and group pace.
Warm layers are useful for the pre-dawn balloon pickup, with comfortable walking shoes for the souks portion later in the morning.
The medina can get busy and warm even during a shorter visit, so breathable clothing helps.
Families are welcome, though the pre-dawn pickup and around an hour standing in the balloon basket should be considered for very young children.
The city portion is a shorter walk through busy medina streets, so share ages when you enquire and the team can advise on suitability.
A champagne toast and breakfast follow the balloon landing. Lunch is not included, since the tour finishes before the middle of the day for most departures.
Water and snacks beyond this are not included.
Hot air ballooning depends on suitable wind and visibility, so flights may be rescheduled or adjusted if conditions are unsafe.
The team will be in touch as early as possible on the morning of the flight, and the city portion can typically still go ahead as planned.
Yes, this half-day format is designed for exactly that, giving you both the balloon flight and a taste of the medina before the rest of your day is free.
It is a practical choice if your schedule in Marrakech is tight.
