This RYA Youth Sailing Stage 4 course is designed for young sailors aged 8 to 15 who already have experience with the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme - Stage 3 or an equivalent level. Over the two days, participants will build on their existing skills and gain more advanced techniques in double-handed sailing. They'll have the chance to practice sailing as both crew and helm while learning new methods for rigging, launching, and recovery, including essential man-overboard drills.
Professional, DBS-checked instructors will provide guidance and support throughout the course, ensuring that each child is given the attention they need to succeed. The course is designed to allow young sailors to gain a deeper understanding of sailing and build confidence in their abilities while sailing in moderate conditions. By the end of the course, they will be equipped with the skills necessary to launch and return to shore in a double-handed boat with ease.
Parents and spectators can watch the activities from The Boat Shack Cafe or terrace. The site is easily accessible with free parking available, including designated spaces for disabled visitors.
It is essential for participants to be confident in their ability to handle a double-handed boat and manage sailing tasks under moderate conditions.
The centre is dedicated to providing a memorable experience for both participants and their families. With spectators welcome to observe the sailing activities, the environment is designed to make the experience enjoyable and inclusive. The on-site facilities, including catering and parking, add to the overall convenience and comfort, making it a great choice for families seeking an adventurous day out.
Rain does not affect your session; you will still be able to take part. Since you will get wet anyway, it can even be more fun in the rain!
If the weather becomes unsafe, such as lightning or thunder, the session will pause until conditions improve. You’ll be given options to rebook or request a refund if a session is cancelled.
Should Aztec Adventure Ltd, for reasons beyond their control (including high winds, lightning storms and icy conditions*), feel it is necessary to close the activity once your party have already commenced participation, you will be offered alternative activities, times or dates to return within one year and rescheduled free of charge.
Alternatively, you may opt to receive a gift card for the full value of your booking, which can be used to rebook at a date and time that suits your group within 12 months.
In such circumstances, you will not be entitled to a refund, in part or whole.
*In all other weather conditions, we operate as normal and standard conditions apply.
