Learning to scuba dive opens up a world of adventure, creating lasting memories and enhancing mental and physical well-being. Completing Parts A and B of the PADI Open Water course will certify you as a diver for life, allowing you to explore underwater environments worldwide. We look forward to welcoming you and beginning your underwater adventures.
The PADI Open Water Diver course (Part A) is divided into two main parts: theory and practical training, consisting of confined water dives and open water dives.
Theory: Upon signing up, you will receive an email from PADI to complete the theory portion online. This can be done on a PC, Mac, or tablet and typically takes 10-12 hours. PADI’s eLearning system is user-friendly and allows you to learn at your own pace, take breaks when needed, and study in the comfort of your home. The theory must be completed before attending pool sessions, except for Soho, where it needs to be done by the second session.
Confined Water Training: Conducted in one of our six heated pools, you will learn essential scuba diving skills, including how to use the scuba equipment, perform safety procedures, and manoeuvre underwater.
To complete your PADI Open Water certification, Part B involves the practical application of the skills learned in Part A through four open water dives. These dives are typically conducted over two days at Mercers Country Park, where you will practice and demonstrate your scuba skills in a natural environment. You can book Part B after completing Part A.
If you prefer to complete these dives elsewhere, you can present your Referral form at any PADI centre worldwide, and they will facilitate your remaining training.
To enrol in the PADI Open Water Diver course, you must be at least 10 years old, in reasonable health, able to swim 200m (any stroke), and float or tread water for 10 minutes.
All students must complete a medical questionnaire; if any conditions apply, a doctor’s approval is required.
Our centre is a multi-award-winning PADI 5-star Instructor Development Centre known for providing high-quality dive training. We keep class sizes small, typically a maximum of six students per instructor, ensuring personalised attention and a thorough experience.

This typically arrives within a few hours but can take up to 24 hours. You can access the portal on a PC, Mac, or tablet.
For most locations, the eLearning must be completed before attending the pool sessions.
However, for the Soho location, it only needs to be finished by the second session.
It’s recommended to complete it beforehand for a smoother learning experience.

Fantastic time!! I’ve been wanting to get my open water license for a while and the team at Oyster Diving were super helpful and supportive! I would fully recommend!
Having not dived for 5 years I was worried that I did not know how to set up the kit and do the dive basics. This course was perfect. I was able to ask all the questions I wanted and the instructor was calm and positive. I completed the course…
