As you approach just below the ridge of Namche, you cross the highest hanging bridge – hold your breath if you suffer from Acrophobia or Gephyrophobia.
For the last part, you walk steep two to three hours uphill in the pine forest to reach Namche Bazaar. It used to be a trading post for Tibetan and Nepali merchants who crossed over the high Himalayan pass called Nang Pa La pass (5,806 m/19,050 ft). An early trans-Himalayan trading place, Namche still holds its prominence as a local marketplace. You spend two nights in this town.
Day 04: Rest and Acclimatization above Namche Bazaar, 1.5 to 4.5 hrs
Today we take an early breakfast then hike for acclimatization. Embarking on a journey to the Sagarmatha National Park Museum at the top of Namche Bazaar, visitors immerse themselves in the museum's wealth of knowledge, delving into the secrets of towering peaks including Mt. Everest.
The diverse fauna and flora that reign over the terrain, and the rich tapestry of Sherpa culture, can be explored here. The narratives of countless trekkers and climbers add a human touch to the immersive experience.

You can enjoy the morning panoramic view of Thamserku and Kantenga at the back side. From Dole onwards it is a barren alpine region without trees.
Lunch at Lapharma and pass small pastureland at Luza to reach Machhermo. Being located near the glacial stream, this place is cold but cozy. You can visit a temporary clinic to know about altitude sickness operated by the Himalayan Rescue Association. You spend the night at a local lodge.
Day 08: Trek Machhermo to Gokyo (4,790 m/15,715 ft) 4.30 hrs walk

We then make our way to Pangka – a place where the rather sad incident of an avalanche killed more than 40 people in 1995. After we reach the river bed, we pass Ngozumba Glacier on our right, then we climb up and reach the first lake of Gokyo. Taking inspiration and walking further will take us to the mesmerizing third lake of Gokyo, passing the second lake on our way.
We spend the night at the valley of Gokyo in a local lodge.
Day 09: Hike to Gokyo RI (5,362 m/ 17,575 ft) and Gokyo Lake Exploration
We begin our day to Gokyo Ri to catch the stunning sunrise over the mountains. The distance is not too long but the challenging terrain full of rocks and boulders makes this hike difficult.
From the top we get to experience the most mesmerizing mountain view including three eight-thousanders peaks Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, Cho Oyu and other surrounding peaks. After the Gokyo Ri, you return to your hotel, enjoy the lunch and rest. Explore the ridge to view Ngozumpa glacier in the evening, or stroll around the Lake. Day 11: Trek from Phortse Tenga to Monjo (2,835 m/9301ft) via Namchebazar 6 hrs walk:
After breakfast, we trek all the way to Namche Bazar for lunch. From Namche, trek down the trail to reach Monjo. The trekking is steeply down routed. We spend our night at a local lodge in Monjo.
Day 12: Trek from Monjo – Lukla (2,840 m/ 9,317 ft) / 4 hrs walk:
From Monjo we trail alongside Dudh Koshi passing the beautiful Phakding on our way. Upon reaching Lukla we thank our crew members and celebrate the completion of our trip. We spend our final night in the mountain air residing at a local lodge.
Day 13: Lukla – Kathmandu / Ramechhap fly 30 mins
We take a thrilling flight to Kathmandu. The flight will bring a change in air and leave the mountain fresh air behind, but you get to rest your body after a long trek.
You will get good food after weeks of limited meal options in the Himalayas. We transfer you to the hotel and leave you for the day to explore the nearest market and relax. You will spend the night at the hotel.
Day 14: Departure Day
We will drop you at the airport and bid our adieu. You will be taken to the airport 3 hours before the scheduled flight.
This itinerary prioritises acclimatisation and steady progression, with a structured approach through Namche before moving into higher alpine terrain. Experienced local guides, clear logistics, and included flights and permits keep the trip well organised. With a private format, pacing can be managed around your group while keeping safety and altitude response central throughout.

Although these are listed as optional, these can be of great assistance to people who may think of themselves and generally clumsy or with bad knees, ankles, etc., especially when going downhill.
All garments should be kept dry using waterproof stuff, sacks or large puncture resistant plastic bags.
This itinerary reaches similar altitudes to many Everest region treks and includes a summit-style hike to 5,357 m, making it physically demanding. While some days may be less crowded than the Everest Base Camp corridor, the altitude and long trekking days still require strong fitness.
If you’ve done multi-day trekking before and cope well at altitude, this is a good step up. If you are new to trekking above 4,000 m, expect a tougher experience and take preparation seriously.
The highest point is Gokyo Ri at 5,357 m, climbed as a day hike from Gokyo village. Overnight altitudes include Namche (3,440 m), Dole (3,680 m), Machhermo (4,470 m), and Gokyo (4,470 m), meaning several nights are spent above 4,000 m.
The itinerary includes an acclimatisation day in Namche and gradual altitude gain thereafter. Guides will monitor symptoms and may adjust pacing or itinerary if required.
Teahouses provide simple rooms, usually twin-share, with communal dining areas. Facilities become more basic at higher elevations, and hot showers or charging may be available for a fee depending on the lodge.
Heating is usually limited to the dining area. Nights at Machhermo and Gokyo can be cold, so warm layers and a good sleeping system matter.
The climb is typically done pre-dawn to catch early light and clearer conditions. The route is a steep uphill on rocky terrain and can take around three hours to ascend, with a similar descent back to the village.
Because it’s above 5,000 m, you’ll move slowly with frequent breaks. Footing is generally straightforward but can feel physically taxing due to altitude.
Yes. Gokyo Ri is specifically known for views that include Everest alongside Makalu and Cho Oyu. Weather and visibility will affect what you see on the day.
The trek also offers regular mountain views from higher sections of the route, particularly after leaving Namche.
The trail from Lukla to Namche is commonly shared with Everest Base Camp trekkers. After the route branches towards Gokyo, it often feels quieter than the main EBC corridor, although that varies by season.
The lakes area can still be busy at peak times, particularly around sunrise hikes.
The itinerary includes TIMS and the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit. These are arranged for you as part of the trip.
You don’t need to organise permits independently, but you will need your passport details.
Flights to Lukla are weather dependent and can be delayed or cancelled. This can affect the itinerary, including trekking start or finish dates.
Your guide will manage on-the-ground decisions and logistics if delays occur, but you should build some flexibility into onward travel plans.
Due to sustained high altitude and the Gokyo Ri day, this is not ideal for beginners unless they are very fit and have prepared well. Prior experience with multi-day hiking is strongly recommended.
If you want a first Himalayan trek, consider routes with lower maximum altitude before stepping up to this itinerary.
Travel insurance must cover high-altitude trekking and include emergency helicopter evacuation. This is mandatory for remote Everest region routes.
Check your policy altitude limits carefully, ensuring it covers the highest point of 5,357 m.
