Nepal is the spiritual home of the mountains — from steamy jungle lowlands to the highest peaks on earth, it is one of the world's great trekking destinations, and adventure here is led, above all, on foot.
The Himalaya on foot
Hiking and trekking dominate, with the classic routes to Everest Base Camp and around the Annapurna massif among the most famous walks in the world. Most of it is reached through Bagmati Province and the Kathmandu valley, the gateway to the high mountains.
Rivers and beyond
Away from the trails, Nepal's Himalayan rivers are made for white-water rafting, with mountaineering and mountain biking adding to the range for those who want more.
