After a short flight to Lukla, the route runs through Namche Bazaar before branching toward Gokyo. Days at Gokyo allow time to enjoy the glacial lakes and climb Gokyo Ri for sweeping views, before the trail crosses the Cho La Pass, a high, rocky saddle linking the Gokyo valley to the main Khumbu route.
From Dzongla, the trail continues through Lobuche and on to Everest Base Camp, with a sunrise climb to Kala Patthar as the final high point of the trip. Lodges and guesthouses provide overnight stops throughout. The return journey retraces familiar villages back through Namche Bazaar to Lukla, ending with a flight back to Kathmandu.
Combining Gokyo, Cho La Pass and Everest Base Camp into one trip takes careful route planning and genuine familiarity with conditions on the pass itself. Guides bring exactly that experience, along with strong relationships with lodges along this less direct route.
Every logistic, from permits to flights to accommodation, is arranged well ahead of departure so the group can focus fully on the trail. Support runs from the first pickup in Kathmandu through every high pass and viewpoint to the final farewell.

The Khumbu region sits beneath Everest and its neighbouring peaks, protected within Sagarmatha National Park and home to the Sherpa communities who have lived and traded here for generations. Gokyo itself is known for its chain of glacial lakes, each a striking shade of blue against the surrounding scree and ice.
Kathmandu, the starting point for the trip, offers a full day of sightseeing among the valley's temples and heritage sites after a hotel pickup on arrival, before the mountains take over. The short flight to Lukla marks the transition from the busy capital to the quiet, high altitude world of the Khumbu.
Lodges and guesthouses provide overnight stops throughout the trek, becoming simpler and more basic the further the trail moves from the main Everest Base Camp route, particularly around Gokyo and on the approach to Cho La Pass. A hotel night in Kathmandu bookends the trip, alongside a full day of guided sightseeing before the trekking begins.
Rooms are typically twin share with shared bathrooms, and hearty, warming meals are served in communal dining rooms each evening. A sleeping bag rated for below freezing temperatures, along with warm gloves and thermal layers, matters more on this route given the extended time spent above 5,000 metres.
