This one day Outdoor First Aid course is designed for people who spend time in environments where help from professional rescue may be delayed.
Training is delivered in outdoor settings and focuses on practical casualty care, decision-making under pressure, and adapting treatment with limited resources.
Suitable for adventurous individuals who want confidence beyond standard first aid training.
This session builds on existing outdoor experience, focusing on practical skills that help you manage first aid and medical emergencies.
You’ll develop:
Better decision-making in changeable mountain environments
Risk awareness and management without relying on fixed plans
Group awareness and communication in small teams
Foundations of casualty care and problem-solving outdoors
Learning is hands-on and scenario-based, with time to practise, reflect, and adapt — not classroom-led or assessment-driven.
This session is suitable for adults who already spend time outdoors and want to build confidence operating in wild places.
Participants should:
Be reasonably fit and comfortable walking for several hours on uneven ground
Have some prior hillwalking or outdoor experience (not suitable as a first-ever mountain experience)
Be able to carry a daypack with personal equipment
Be willing to engage actively, make decisions, and learn as part of a small group
Be prepared for changeable UK mountain weather
No formal qualifications are required. This is a learning-focused weekend, not an assessment or guided walk.
