


Discover a challenging and rewarding Munro bagging adventure in the Kintail region of the Scottish Highlands. Over the course of six days, you'll summit a series of iconic peaks, including the renowned Five Sisters of Kintail, while surrounded by the dramatic scenery of this remote part of the country. The expedition offers the chance to explore rugged terrain, learn about local wildlife and geology, and enjoy some well-earned rest days.
Day 1: Arrive by 7.30pm to meet the group, unpack, and enjoy a brief introduction to the week’s itinerary. This is an opportunity to get to know your fellow adventurers, set expectations, and prepare for the week ahead.
Day 2: Your first hike will take you along the North Glen Sheil Ridge, also known as "The 3 Brothers" traverse. You’ll summit three Munros: Saileag (956m), Sgurr a' Bhealaich Dheirg (1036m), and Aonach Meadhoin (1001m). The 10km route involves 1221m of ascent, with around 5 hours 20 minutes of walking time (excluding breaks). The views of the surrounding glens and peaks will offer a sense of the adventure to come.
Day 3: Today’s focus is on A' Ghlas Bheinn (918m). The 17km route covers a variety of terrain, including tracks, pony paths, and open mountain paths, with a total ascent of 990m. Expect around 6 hours 55 minutes of walking, including time for breaks and photos. This day offers an opportunity to enjoy the remoteness and beauty of the Highlands.
Day 4: The Five Sisters of Kintail traverse is one of the highlights of the trip. You’ll summit Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe (1027m), Sgurr na Carnach (1002m), and Sgurr Fhuaran (1067m), covering 13km with 1379m of ascent. The walking time is around 6.5 hours, offering plenty of time to take in the panoramic views.
Day 5: This is your rest day, providing an opportunity to relax, explore the local area, or even visit some nearby attractions at your own pace. It's a great chance to reflect on the journey so far or recharge for the final days of the adventure.
Day 6: You’ll hike the Eastern section of the South Glen Sheil Ridge, summiting Creag a' Mhaim, Druim Shionnach, and Aonach Air Chrith. This 18km route involves 1175m of ascent and will take about 7.5 hours to complete. The dramatic landscapes on this section of the ridge are sure to make for some memorable moments.
Day 7: The final hike of the trip will take you up Creag nan Damb (918m). This 11km route with 1010m of ascent will take around 5 hours 10 minutes. A fitting conclusion to your adventure in Kintail, you’ll return to base for a celebratory meal and final night at the lodge.
Departure: After breakfast on the final morning, say your goodbyes and depart for home, carrying with you the memories of a fantastic hiking week in the Scottish Highlands.
The Kintail region, located in the Scottish Highlands, is the perfect setting for this Munro bagging adventure. The meeting point is Woodlands, Kintail, a scenic and remote area that offers some of the best hillwalking opportunities in the country.
You’ll be based at Fraoch Lodge, located on Deshar Road in Boat of Garten, just outside Aviemore, where all the logistics and accommodations are taken care of. The area is accessible by Aviemore train station or Inverness airport, making it an easily reachable base for outdoor exploration.
Your accommodation throughout the trip will be Fraoch Lodge, a welcoming and comfortable base where you can rest and recharge each evening. The lodge combines outdoor charm with warm hospitality, ensuring a pleasant stay.
Meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients, including produce grown on site with the help of seasonal volunteers. The lodge offers an ideal atmosphere for relaxing and reflecting on your day’s achievements.
This Munro bagging experience is designed for participants with a good level of physical fitness and prior hillwalking experience. You should be comfortable with long walks on mountain terrain, including steep ascents and descents, and able to cope with the variable weather conditions of the Highlands.
The walks range from moderate to challenging, and while no technical climbing skills are required, an appreciation for rugged terrain and mountain walking is essential. Participants should be able to walk for several hours each day at a steady pace, and be prepared to spend extended periods outdoors in changing conditions.
