This immersive journey leaves Marrakech for the Amizmiz foothills and then threads deeper into High Atlas valleys most day-trippers never reach. Each day links Berber villages with forest paths, cultivated terraces and high passes, ending with tea, a village walk and dinner with your hosts.
Expect sustained walking, changing overnight bases and a strong cultural thread. The final day brings you back toward Anougal and the road to Marrakech with a farewell lunch before the city transfer.
Guides and muleteers from these valleys manage pace, weather and village lodging with calm local knowledge. Mule support keeps your days focused on walking and meeting people rather than hauling heavy bags.
The itinerary is built for depth: enough time to settle into mountain rhythm, yet still returns you cleanly to Marrakech. Hospitality stays personal from the first tea in Amizmiz to the last valley lunch.
Pickup from Marrakech takes you to Amizmiz to meet your guide and mule team. After mint tea you hike toward Amezi for lunch in a Berber family home, then continue to Ait Irghit.
Settle into a traditional guesthouse, explore the village and enjoy dinner with your hosts. Overnight in Ait Irghit.
After fresh bread for breakfast, hike through pine forest into the Anougal valley. Lunch is served in Ait Hamed before you continue to Infag among walnut trees.
Tea, a village walk, dinner and overnight with a local family close the day in Infag.
Trek through cultivated valleys to Imi Ourmer for lunch in a Berber home, then climb beneath walnut trees to Tizka, the last village in the valley at about 2,000 metres.
Tea, village exploration, dinner and overnight in a guesthouse or tent depending on conditions.
Follow an ancient trail up to Tizi N'Oudad Pass at about 1,900 metres through oak forest and rugged paths, then descend into Tnirt valley for lunch.
Check into a local auberge, enjoy a short village walk, dinner and overnight in Tnirt.
Hike toward Imin Tala, crossing an easier pass back toward the Anougal valley. After a farewell lunch you meet your vehicle for the transfer to Marrakech.
Arrive back in the city with five days of village trails, passes and High Atlas hospitality behind you.
Day one begins with pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech and a scenic drive to Amizmiz, where you meet your local guide and mule team before the first hike.
On day five, after lunch near Imin Tala, you meet your vehicle for the transfer back to Marrakech. Allow time for a late-afternoon city arrival depending on trail pace.
You are picked up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech on day one and driven to Amizmiz to meet your guide and mule team before the first hike begins.
On day five, after a farewell lunch near Imin Tala, you meet your vehicle for the return transfer to Marrakech. Many riads need a nearby meeting point rather than door-to-door car access.
You should be ready for consecutive walking days on mountain paths, with climbs to passes around 1,900 to 2,000 metres and long valley sections between village overnight stops.
Prior multi-day hiking experience helps. This is a challenging village trek rather than a technical climb, but the days add up. Share recent walking experience with the team before you book.
You stay in Berber guesthouses and family homes along the valleys, with an auberge or tent option possible at higher stops such as Tizka when conditions require it.
Expect shared facilities and warm hospitality rather than hotel rooms. Bring a season-appropriate sleeping bag or liner and warm evening layers for cooler nights near 2,000 metres.
Meals on the trek are included, typically breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared in village homes or with your trek team as each day unfolds through the valleys.
Share dietary needs and allergies when you enquire so cooks and hosts can plan ahead. Soft drinks and alcohol are not included.
Yes. A mule team carries main luggage between overnight stops so you walk with a lighter daypack on the forest paths and mountain passes.
Keep water, layers, snacks, camera and medication in the bag you carry each day, because mule loads are packed for the next overnight rather than midday access.
Comfortable hiking shoes or boots, lightweight daytime clothing, warm layers for mornings and evenings, a waterproof jacket, hat, sunglasses and sunscreen cover most conditions on this route.
Also pack a water bottle or hydration pack, personal toiletries and medications, a small daypack and optional walking poles. A sleeping bag or liner suited to the season is important for village overnights.
Yes. A passport is required for mountain checkpoints along the High Atlas route. Bring the original or a clear copy as advised when you confirm your departure dates.
Keep it dry and easy to reach in your daypack so the guide can present identification quickly if a checkpoint asks for it.
Travel insurance is not included and is strongly recommended for multi-day mountain trekking, including cover for hiking on steep trails and overnight stays in rural High Atlas villages.
Check that remote mountain walking is included in your policy before you travel, and keep emergency contact details accessible on the trek.
Yes. The product is framed as a private-style Atlas trek for small groups, subject to availability and the maximum group size of around ten guests.
Share dates and group size with the team so they can confirm guides, mules and lodging across all five overnight stops before you arrive in Marrakech.
If weather or trail conditions make the planned route unsafe, the team may adjust daily stages, pass choices or overnight stops while keeping you moving safely through the valleys.
They will be in touch as soon as decisions are clear and will explain the options for your departure so you know what to expect each morning.
