Over seven days, you'll travel from Marrakech into the heart of southern Morocco, crossing mountain passes, exploring historic kasbahs, visiting colourful markets, and spending time in the Sahara Desert. Yoga sessions are carefully integrated throughout the journey, taking place in some of Morocco's most memorable settings, including the dunes of Merzouga at sunrise and sunset.
Alongside the yoga practice, the trip provides an opportunity to connect with local communities, experience traditional cuisine, discover ancient trading towns, and explore landscapes that range from fertile valleys to vast desert dunes. The pace is relaxed, allowing time to appreciate each destination while sharing the experience with a small group of like-minded travellers.
Years of experience organising adventure travel across North Africa have helped create an experience that balances exploration, comfort, and cultural immersion. Rather than simply visiting Morocco's highlights, participants are encouraged to connect with local traditions, landscapes, and communities throughout the journey.
The trip is supported by bilingual guides and local experts from start to finish, ensuring smooth logistics and authentic experiences. Careful attention is also given to accommodation, food, and group wellbeing, allowing participants to focus fully on enjoying the adventure.
Upon arrival in Marrakech, you'll be welcomed and transferred to your accommodation. The evening offers an introduction to the city's famous atmosphere, with time to explore Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, known for its food stalls, musicians, performers, and bustling energy.
Dinner is enjoyed in the city before settling into your accommodation and preparing for the journey ahead.
Leaving Marrakech behind, the route crosses the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass. Along the way, you'll pass through traditional Berber villages and mountain landscapes before arriving at the UNESCO-listed village of Ait Benhaddou.
After exploring the ancient fortified settlement and enjoying lunch, the journey continues through the Valley of Roses and towards the spectacular Dades Valley, where dinner and overnight accommodation await.
The day begins with a journey through southern Morocco's kasbah-lined roads before reaching the impressive Todra Gorge. Towering rock walls and dramatic scenery make this one of the country's most famous natural landmarks.
Later, you'll arrive at the dunes of Merzouga and begin a camel trek into the desert. As the sun starts to set, a yoga session takes place among the dunes before spending the night in traditional desert tents beneath the stars.
An early start allows for a sunrise yoga session surrounded by the silence of the desert. After breakfast, you'll return by camel and continue to the village of Khamlia.
Here you'll discover the traditions of the Gnawa people through music, drumming, and local culture. The day concludes with a climb up the Great Dune of Merzouga for panoramic desert views before returning to the guesthouse for dinner and relaxation.
Following another desert sunrise yoga session, the journey continues to Rissani, a historic market town famous for its spices, trading heritage, and traditional atmosphere.
Travelling onwards through Nkoub and the Draa Valley, you'll encounter palm groves, kasbahs, and landscapes that have featured in numerous films. Overnight accommodation is provided in a traditional Moroccan guesthouse.
The morning is spent exploring Ouarzazate, often referred to as the gateway to the Sahara. Time is available to discover the city's historic sites before enjoying lunch and beginning the return journey.
Crossing the High Atlas Mountains once more, there will be opportunities to stop for photographs before arriving back in Marrakech for a final evening in the city.
A relaxed final morning provides time to visit the souks, purchase souvenirs, or enjoy the atmosphere of Marrakech one last time.
Airport transfers are provided before departure, bringing the journey to a close after a week of yoga, cultural experiences, and desert adventure.
Accommodation has been selected to provide comfort while maintaining an authentic connection to each destination. Throughout the trip, participants stay in a mixture of hotels, guesthouses, and traditional lodgings that reflect the character of the regions being visited.
One of the highlights is the overnight stay in a traditional desert camp in Merzouga, where participants sleep among the dunes beneath the night sky. Combined with the guesthouses and hotels used throughout the trip, this creates a varied and memorable travel experience.
No. The retreat is suitable for both experienced practitioners and those relatively new to yoga. Sessions focus on enjoying the surroundings and creating time for reflection rather than achieving advanced poses.
The desert setting naturally encourages participants to move at their own pace, making the experience accessible regardless of previous yoga experience.
Accommodation varies throughout the trip and includes hotels, traditional guesthouses, and a desert camp. Each property has been selected to provide comfort while maintaining an authentic connection to the local area.
The overnight stay in the Sahara Desert is often one of the most memorable parts of the journey, offering the chance to sleep among the dunes beneath the night sky.
The overall difficulty level is considered easy. Most activities involve sightseeing, gentle walking, camel riding, and yoga sessions rather than strenuous physical challenges.
Participants should be comfortable travelling between destinations and spending time outdoors, but specialist fitness levels are not required.
