Wild camping offers an opportunity to learn the essential skills for confidently navigating and camping in remote areas, whether you're heading out with friends, family, or planning solo adventures. These courses cater to both summer and winter conditions, providing the knowledge needed for trips across the UK and preparing you for international expeditions.
Day 1 – Preparation and Setup
The course begins at 9:00 AM with a welcome, briefing, and equipment check. You'll receive assistance packing your rucksack, followed by a 2-3 hour hike to the chosen wild camping site. Upon arrival, you'll learn how to pitch your tent, set up your camp, and cook using camping stoves. The evening will focus on campcraft skills, navigation basics, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
Day 2 – Skills in Action
On the second day, you’ll pack up camp and venture on a hike to practice your navigation and terrain skills. You’ll also focus on water sourcing, food preparation, and how to stay safe in the wilderness. For those on the 1.5-day course, this will be the final day, with the course ending at around 2:00 PM, including a final review of the skills learned. On the 2.5-day course, after lunch, you’ll continue your journey, with further exercises in navigation, campcraft, and shelter setups.
Day 3 – Review and Final Challenges
For participants on the 2.5-day course, the final day will involve putting all your skills into practice, with a hike to a new wild camping spot or peak. You’ll review everything you've learned, focusing on refining campcraft, navigation, and safety procedures. The course will conclude around 3:00 PM, with advice on future wild camping trips and expeditions.
Before the course, you’ll receive a detailed kit list and preparation tips to ensure you’re fully ready. If you have specific goals or challenges in mind, let us know, and we’ll customise the course accordingly.
By learning these essential wild camping skills, you’ll gain the confidence to explore remote locations on your own terms, making unforgettable memories while developing a deeper connection with nature.

Each area offers diverse terrain to enhance your learning and develop practical skills in real-world conditions. Specific locations are selected based on group preferences and weather.
Participants must be in good physical health and comfortable walking on uneven terrain. No prior camping or navigation knowledge is required, as all training will be provided.

Our time outdoor climbing with Paul was great! It was our first time trad climbing and also doing a multi-pitch climb.
