Church Beck
Church Beck offers an exciting ghyll scrambling experience through its rocky stream and cascading waterfalls. Starting with a brief introduction to the activity, the session takes you through the fast-moving waters, scaling rocks and slipping down natural slides. With its varying terrain, Church Beck provides a good mix of easy wading and slightly more challenging climbs. It’s a fun and exciting way to get wet while testing your balance and coordination in the water.
Fishers Ghyll
Fishers Ghyll is known for its scenic surroundings and gentle yet challenging water routes. The session starts with a warm-up before heading into the ghyll. Expect to climb over smooth rocks, wade through deeper pools, and navigate water cascades. The pace of the session is steady, with opportunities to challenge yourself by tackling more difficult sections. This location is perfect for those who want a combination of relaxed exploration and thrilling slides.
Stickle Ghyll
Stickle Ghyll provides a more intense scrambling experience, with higher waterfalls and more challenging climbs. The route takes you through a series of rock formations and fast-moving water. You’ll need to be agile as you slide down rocks and scramble through narrow, rocky sections. This location is best for those who want a slightly more physically demanding experience, with a good mix of climbing and sliding.
Hell Ghyll
Hell Ghyll offers a more demanding and adventurous experience for those looking for a true challenge. The session begins with an introduction to the ghyll, then you’ll make your way through a series of steep waterfalls and difficult terrain. Hell Ghyll is designed for those with some scrambling experience, offering a mix of rock climbing and rapid wading. The ghyll’s natural features provide plenty of opportunities to test your agility and strength, making it the most exciting choice for thrill-seekers.
The ghyll scrambling sessions are available at several locations, each offering a unique adventure. Choose from Church Beck, Fishers Ghyll, Stickle Ghyll, and Hell Ghyll. Each ghyll offers a different level of difficulty, from beginner-friendly routes to more challenging courses.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be comfortable swimming at least 25 metres. The activity involves climbing and wading through water, so a reasonable level of agility is required.
As the activity involves getting fully soaked, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear are essential.
With various ghyll scrambling locations, participants can pick the ideal session based on their desired level of challenge. From beginner-friendly experiences in Fishers Ghyll to the more demanding climbs in Hell Ghyll, there’s something for everyone. Experienced instructors are on hand to ensure safety and offer guidance, making sure that you can enjoy the adventure without worry.

It's recommended to wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. You'll be provided with a wetsuit, helmet, and buoyancy aid to keep you safe and comfortable during the session.
Ensure you bring a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards, as you'll get soaked during the activity.
Ghyll scrambling involves climbing, wading, and jumping through streams and waterfalls, so a moderate level of fitness is helpful.
While no previous experience is required, you should be comfortable with walking in uneven terrain and getting into and out of water. If you have concerns about your physical fitness, please discuss them with us before booking.
The minimum age for ghyll scrambling is 10 years old. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
For safety reasons, age and fitness guidelines will be strictly followed to ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone.
No prior experience is necessary for ghyll scrambling. The instructors will guide you throughout the activity and provide all the necessary training and support.
Whether you're a beginner or have some outdoor experience, you'll be in safe hands.
Group sizes range from 2 to 8 people, ensuring a more personalised experience. Smaller groups allow our guides to give more focused attention and adjust the difficulty of the session to match the group’s ability.
Larger groups are also accommodated, but we still maintain a small-group feel by dividing sessions as needed. For larger groups, please contact us via the adventuro chat below.
The ghyll scrambling sessions typically last for around 3 hours, depending on the location and the pace of the group.
You'll be in the water for most of the session, with short breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the surroundings.
