This guided climb combines two of Ben Nevis’ most famous routes, Tower Ridge and Ledge Route, for an unforgettable mountain experience. Tower Ridge, graded as Grade III (Difficult), is a challenging and sustained ascent with technical climbing sections. Ledge Route, graded Grade II, serves as a fitting descent with its own unique challenges. These routes are celebrated for their exposure, technical difficulty, and incredible views, making this a day for experienced climbers looking to test their skills.
Your day begins with an early meet-up at the North Face car park. After a briefing and equipment check, you'll approach the base of Tower Ridge. The ascent involves roped climbing sections, exposed ridges, and moments that demand focus and determination.
Tower Ridge is a sustained climb that requires concentration, stamina, and confidence. You’ll face obstacles such as the infamous Tower Gap, a short but exposed crossing requiring careful footwork and steady nerves. As you ascend, you’ll enjoy incredible views of the Ben Nevis massif and the surrounding landscape (weather permitting), making the effort truly rewarding.
Once on the summit of Ben Nevis, you'll take on Ledge Route for the descent. While less technical than the ridge, it still requires careful navigation and respect for the terrain. Weather conditions or fatigue may result in an alternative descent route being chosen.
Understanding the grades is crucial for assessing the challenge level:
The adventure takes place on the north face of Ben Nevis, accessed from the North Face car park near Fort William.
This area is known for its dramatic landscape and challenging climbing routes, making it a favourite among mountaineers.
Participants need to have prior scrambling or climbing experience and be in excellent physical condition.
The routes are serious undertakings that demand skill and fitness. If you’re unsure about your readiness, feel free to get in touch for advice.
With over 20 years of guiding experience, our instructor brings a wealth of mountaineering expertise to each climb. Fully qualified as a Mountain Instructor and Winter Mountain Leader, they’re committed to making your day safe, educational, and enjoyable.
We pride ourselves on creating tailored adventures where participants not only achieve their goals but also gain new skills to apply in future climbs. Whether you're taking on Tower Ridge for the first time or refining your abilities, you'll leave with lasting memories and a sense of accomplishment.
Tower Ridge is graded as Grade III (Difficult), meaning it involves technical climbing, exposed ridges, and sustained sections that require ropes and careful attention.
Ledge Route is graded as Grade II, which is less technical but still demands solid scrambling experience. Both routes require good physical fitness and a head for heights.
Participants need to be in very good physical condition to complete this activity, as it involves a full day of climbing and scrambling (7–11 hours).
Yes, prior scrambling or climbing experience is essential for this activity. If you’ve never climbed or scrambled before, this route may be too challenging.
If you’re unsure about your experience level, feel free to contact us via the adventuro chat below for advice on preparation or alternative activities.
In the event of poor weather, the guide will assess whether the climb can proceed safely.
If necessary, the route or activity may be adjusted to ensure participant safety. This could include changing the descent route or rescheduling.
The activity begins at 07:30 at the North Face car park and can last between 7–11 hours depending on the group’s pace, weather, and conditions on the mountain.
For larger groups, an additional guide will be required. Please contact us via the adventuro chat below in advance to arrange this, as the maximum group size per guide is two people to ensure safety.
