Test your focus and accuracy with a fun archery session led by certified ArcheryGB instructors. Learn the essentials of aiming, drawing, and releasing with precision as you build confidence with every shot. The session mixes skill-building with light-hearted competition, making it ideal for individuals, families, or groups looking to try something new.
Start the session with an introduction and safety briefing, followed by an overview of your equipment. Instructors will guide you through proper posture, grip, and draw techniques to help you develop a smooth and accurate shot. Once comfortable, you’ll get the chance to practise independently, with coaching and encouragement throughout.
The second half of the session adds a playful twist as participants compete in light games and scoring challenges. Whether it’s hitting the gold or aiming for a personal best, everyone can enjoy a relaxed but rewarding experience. Depending on time, instructors may introduce more advanced techniques, such as adjusting aim or improving consistency.

Sunglasses or a cap if it's sunny.
Wellies and waterproof jacket if it's raining. (if raining, then we do have a sheltered range - Availability dependant)
Yes, the session is designed for all ability levels, including complete beginners. Instructors teach every step, from holding the bow correctly to aiming and releasing safely. You’ll build confidence gradually with plenty of individual support.
As the session progresses, instructors adjust the level of challenge to match your progress. It’s an enjoyable and pressure-free way to try archery for the first time.
If the weather is poor, a sheltered range may be available depending on availability. The session can continue safely, so there’s no need to cancel or worry about missing out.
Instructors will adjust targets and set-up to suit the conditions. It’s best to bring waterproof clothing or wellies just in case.
All bows, arrows, and safety equipment are provided. You’ll learn with lightweight recurve bows suited to your size and strength, ensuring comfort and accuracy throughout.
Every piece of equipment is checked and maintained regularly. Adaptive gear is also available for wheelchair users or participants with limited upper-body strength.
Absolutely. The range is accessible, and specialist tools are available to assist wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility or strength. The goal is to make archery as inclusive as possible for everyone.
Instructors adapt the coaching style to match individual needs and ensure that every participant can shoot safely and enjoy the experience fully.
All essential equipment is supplied. Comfortable clothing that allows free movement is recommended, along with closed-toe shoes.
If it’s sunny, sunglasses or a cap can help with visibility. On wet days, waterproof jackets or layers are useful as the range is partly outdoors.
Participants must be aged 12 or over. Anyone under 18 must have an adult accompany them and remain on-site during the session.
This rule helps ensure safety and supervision throughout the activity, particularly for younger archers who may need additional guidance.
