Take in the highlights of Bristol on a guided cycle tour through the heart of the city. This relaxed and easy-paced experience showcases major landmarks, hidden corners, vibrant street art and waterfront paths—all led by a knowledgeable local guide who brings the city to life with stories, recommendations, and insights.
The ride begins at the Harbourside, just behind the Watershed Cinema, where each rider is set up with a comfortable Temple Cycles bike. These locally made bikes are purpose-built for city exploration, offering a smooth and enjoyable ride. Their upright position, swept-back handlebars, and ergonomic leather grips allow for relaxed cruising without putting pressure on your hands or shoulders. The lightweight steel frame keeps things easygoing on the flats, while the 9-speed gearing system handles any inclines with ease—ideal for navigating Bristol’s occasional hills.
From there, the group sets off through the Old City’s cobbled lanes, pausing to admire the historic buildings and market stalls at St. Nick’s Market. The route continues along the Harbourside with views of Brunel’s SS Great Britain and Cliftonwood’s bright hillside houses. You’ll pass by well-known Banksy pieces, learn about Bristol’s long history of innovation and activism, and roll through creative neighbourhoods with local recommendations offered along the way. With flat, car-free sections and carefully chosen quiet roads, the route offers a relaxed pace and plenty of photo stops.
For those after a more exclusive experience, private tours are also available. These can be tailored to focus on your group’s interests, whether that’s architecture, food, history, or just seeing the city at your own pace.
Tours start and finish at our dedicated container unit located directly behind the Watershed Cinema, at 1 Canon's Rd, Bristol BS1 5UH. This central spot is easily reached on foot or by public transport, and it puts you right at the start of a traffic-free network of cycle paths. The tour covers a wide range of Bristol’s central districts, giving you a true sense of the city’s layout, diversity and charm—from the historic docks to colourful hillside terraces and vibrant cultural hubs.
Riders should be confident on a bike, but the tour is well-suited to a wide range of abilities and avoids main roads and steep climbs. All participants must be at least 150cm tall, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A short safety briefing is given at the start, and helmets are available for those who wish to wear one.
The centre has been guiding guests around Bristol by bike since 2013 and uses Temple Cycles for their hire fleet—premium bikes designed and built right here in the city. Each Temple bike features a lightweight Reynolds steel frame, upright riding posture, and a reliable 9-speed gear system that makes hills manageable without overcomplicating things. They’re built for both comfort and performance, which makes them perfect for city touring. The guides are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about helping people enjoy the city in a laid-back and active way. Whether it’s your first time in Bristol or you live nearby, this tour offers a fresh way to see familiar streets and discover lesser-known gems.
