Our Surf Coach Safety & Rescue Course, aligned with ISA/ILS Water Safety standards, is an essential qualification for aspiring surf and SUP coaches. Whether you're planning to coach in a tropical paradise or in Wales, this course equips you with crucial rescue and safety skills.
The course cover the following key components:
The course involves intensive physical training including running, swimming, and performing rescues with rescue boards. You'll gain knowledge in lifeguarding, first aid theory, basic life support, and spinal management, alongside practical rescue scenarios.
The qualification is valid for 24 months from the date of assessment, after which the lifesaving course must be completed again.
The course is held at Gupton Farm, Pembrokeshire, providing an ideal training environment with access to varied water conditions.

We focus on providing a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience, ensuring that our participants are well-prepared for real-world coaching scenarios.

Leading the charge is our very own Dean, a seasoned waterman who has proudly represented Great Britain in competitive surfing. As a surf ambassador across UK/Europe, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, Dean plays a pivotal role in shaping the development pathways for these sports. His 25 years of experience in surf, SUP, and lifesaving training encompass all ages and skill levels. Dean takes particular pride in his collaborations with Disability Sport Wales, various local community groups, schools, the National Trust, Pembrokeshire County Council, and international surfing bodies.

Yes we are. We have £10 million public liability insurance and all instructors & surf crew are fully qualified & members of the NGB.
There are no hidden costs you will have to keep up-to-date with your membership to the ISA, which is the international governing body.
Our Pembrokeshire courses will be held at our Activity Centre on Gupton Farm, Castlemartin, SA71 5HW.
Accommodation is not included in the cost of the course but we can recommend great value for money accommodation in the nearby area.
Food is not included, but there are local cafes nearby and a small supermarket about a 15-minute drive away. If you do need to heat up your food, we do have a microwave available onsite and don’t worry there is a kettle available for unlimited tea and coffee.
Yes! You must be able to show and understand the rules of priority, be able to negotiate the line up and show confidence in turning left and right
This is a 3-day course, but some participants might need extra training, so we offer a fourth day for free where needed. We include a fifth day to factor in anyone wishing to add our beach lifeguarding course which comes at an additional fee (please message us if you are interested in this).

Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
