Limestone, coves and optional jumps make up the two-hour coasteering route from Stackpole Quay. The line follows the tide rather than a fixed script, so caves and ledges open or close with the water. A wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet are included, and a guide stays with the group the whole way.
Kit up at the quay, then walk onto the rocks for a short brief on jumps, swimming and how the swell is behaving. The rest of the two hours is on the coast: hops, swims, cave looks and optional jumps. Nobody is pushed off a ledge they do not want.
High tide sets the clock, so the start moves from day to day and we confirm the time the evening before. Give yourself 15 minutes at the quay. Anyone under 18 needs an adult on the session. Old trainers stay on in the water. Flip-flops, Crocs and water shoes come off too easily, so leave those in the car.
Stackpole Quay, SA71 5LS, sits on the National Trust coast path. The route works along the cliffs towards Barafundle when the swell allows. Parking is in the quay car park above the slip.
If Stackpole is not usable we pick another stretch around Tenby or Manorbier and send the new pin. Check your messages the evening before so you are not driving to a closed quay.
Happy in the sea and able to swim about 25 metres is enough. No coasteering experience is needed. Children from 8 can join. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them on the rocks and in the water.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer and an old pair of trainers you are happy to get wet. Tell us any medical notes that affect swimming or jumping.
Guides have run this stretch with the National Trust for more than 20 years. Coaches hold ISA and beach lifeguard awards, and sessions are AALA licensed. Jumps stay optional, so a mixed family can still share the same route.
The guide stays with you on the rocks and in the water. Kit is fitted at the quay, then the rest of the two hours is on the coast rather than on the slip.
National Trust parking sits above Stackpole Quay, Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Pembroke, SA71 5LS. Walk down to the slip. What3words for the quay is bongo.opened.piano.
Give yourself 15 minutes before the start. We confirm the exact time the day before once the tide is clear. If we have to move beach, we send a new pin.
A guided trip along the coast using the rocks and the water: scrambling, swimming between coves, looking into caves and jumping when you choose to. You stay in a wetsuit and a buoyancy aid, and a guide sets the pace to the group.
Jumps are optional. If you would rather scramble and swim, say so at the start. The route still works without every ledge.
About two hours from the quay and back, including changing and a short brief. Most of that window is on the rocks and in the water rather than standing on the slip talking.
The start sits around high tide, so the clock moves from day to day. We confirm the time the evening before. Give yourself 15 minutes at the quay.
Stackpole Quay, SA71 5LS, unless we message a different stretch. Park in the National Trust car park above the slip and walk down. Changing happens at the quay before you go onto the rocks.
If Stackpole is not usable we send a new pin for Tenby or Manorbier. Check your messages the evening before so you are not driving to a closed quay.
Eight. Anyone under 18 needs an adult with them on the rocks and in the water for the whole session. Children should be happy swimming in the sea with a buoyancy aid on.
Tell us ages so we can judge if this route fits. The pace stays with the least confident person, so a mixed family still works, just at a calmer speed.
No. First-timers are the usual group. You do need to be happy in the sea and able to swim about 25 metres. The guide shows you how to move on wet rock and how to jump, if you want to jump.
If you have done this before and want a bigger day, say so at the brief. The route can take in more swimming when the swell allows.
A wetsuit, a buoyancy aid and a helmet, fitted at the quay. You need your own old trainers for the rocks and the water. Flip-flops, Crocs and water shoes come off too easily, so leave those in the car.
Leave phones and bags in the car. If you need medication in the water, give it to the guide in a dry bag at the start.
Every jump is a choice. The guide shows you the landing and the height, then you decide. The rest of the route still works if you scramble and swim instead.
Nobody is pushed or rushed off a ledge. If heights worry you, say so at the brief so the group is not waiting on you in silence.
Rain on its own does not stop a session. We move or hold the start when the swell or wind makes the cliffs unsafe, or if we cannot run a useful route. The clock also moves if the tide is not right.
Check your messages the evening before if you are travelling a long way, so you have the confirmed time and meeting point before you leave.
Swimwear, a towel, a warm dry layer and an old pair of trainers. Sunscreen and a water bottle help. Get changed into swimwear before you arrive if you want to skip the queue.
Do not bring flip-flops or water shoes for the rocks. Pack a bag for wet trainers afterwards. Leave valuables in the car.
Yes, as long as everyone is eight or over and happy in the sea. The pace stays with the least confident person, so a mixed family still works, just at a calmer speed.
An adult needs to stay with anyone under 18 on the rocks and in the water. Tell us ages so we can put the right kit out at the quay.

Leon was an amazing instructor
Hi, thanks it was great, 5 stars, great teacher. Cheers, Sarah
Our booking was at midday for 2 hours, but we didn’t get the stuff until 12:15 when the lady came back with the surf school. We were then told to bring the stuff back before 2 pm or she wouldn’t be there (we needed to get our deposit back). This…
Got some surfboards and wetsuits for a couple of hours. They were dropped off at the right place right time, he was very helpful and knowledgeable, gave us a little info about the beach because we hadn't surfed there before. Will definitely be using again and recommending
We enjoyed our kayaking thoroughly. Much thanks to Jenny who supported our ride plan and made changes accordingly. Big cheers to her 👏🏻🙌🏼
