The RYA Youth Sailing Stage 4 course is the final step in the youth sailing progression, designed to improve sailing skills so that young sailors can confidently helm or crew a single or double-handed boat. This exciting course takes place on the sea at Brighton Marina, offering an adventure-filled experience while helping participants build their independence on the water.
The RYA Youth Sailing Stage 4 course builds on previous sailing knowledge, advancing participants' skills and preparing them to helm or crew in a variety of conditions. With a focus on safety and independence, this course provides young sailors with the skills they need to sail confidently in coastal waters.
Course content includes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to competently launch and sail a boat around a triangular course in suitable conditions, achieving the level required to hire boats at sea. This course is the final step before young sailors can begin independently sailing or crewing on larger vessels.
The course takes place at Brighton Marina, providing the perfect environment for learning coastal sailing. With sheltered marina waters for practising key skills and access to open sea conditions, young sailors will gain real-world experience in a dynamic sailing environment.
Participants must have completed RYA Youth Sailing Stage 3 and gained some sailing practice between courses. Younger children with RYA Stage 2 and adequate experience may also be considered. Please contact us if you are unsure of your child’s eligibility.
