Course Breakdown

Day 1 – Pool Training (Chertsey, Surrey):

Your training starts with rescue skill development in a controlled pool environment, allowing you to build confidence before progressing to open water.

Self-rescue techniques
Assisting panicked divers at the surface and underwater
Helping a tired or distressed diver
Responding to an unconscious diver
Missing diver search techniques
Rescue Exercises 1-10 practiced under instructor guidance

If you're taking the course between December and April, a Drysuit Orientation is required to help you adjust to colder water conditions. You can add this when you book.

Day 2 – Open Water Training (Wraysbury Dive Lake):

This is where you apply your skills in realistic rescue scenarios at one of the UK’s top inland dive training sites.

Two open water rescue dives
Managing an unresponsive diver at the surface
Underwater rescue scenarios
Search and recovery techniques
Practical application of emergency procedures

By the end of the course, you’ll be confident handling emergency situations and able to assist other divers safely and effectively.

The PADI Rescue Diver Course is for Advanced Open Water Divers (15+ years old) who want to build confidence in handling dive emergencies and assisting others.

Yes, you need valid CPR/First Aid training completed within the last 24 months. If you don’t have this, you can add the Emergency First Response (EFR) course when booking.

If you haven’t dived in the last 12 months, a Scuba Review is required before starting the Rescue Diver course. You can add this when you book at a discounted rate.

From 1 Dec – 30 Apr, a Drysuit Orientation (£80) is required due to colder water temperatures. You can add this at checkout. If you have your Drysuit Specialty, you need not add this, but please let us know when you book.

Yes! Upon completion, you’ll earn the PADI Rescue Diver Certification, which is required for Divemaster training and professional-level diving.
