These kayaks are designed for ease of use, with stable hulls that track well in a straight line while remaining easy to manoeuvre around obstacles. Your route can include islands, riverside parks, and nearby beaches, with options to paddle up to Hampton Court for a unique riverside view of the palace. Pubs, cafes, and restaurants are easily accessible from the water, making it simple to plan a leisurely stop during your trip.
Your adventure takes place on the non-tidal section of the River Thames around West Molesey, offering a mix of calm stretches and gentle curves. The area is ideal for paddlers of all experience levels, with enough variety to keep your trip engaging without being overwhelming. There are islands, riverside parks, and small beaches to explore along the way, plus easy access to local pubs and cafes for a stop-off if desired.
Paddlers will share the river with rowers and other small craft, so awareness and courtesy are important. Special care should be taken near locks and weirs, and all users are asked to respect the river and riverside property owners. The river’s environment provides a unique way to see local wildlife and the surrounding area from a water-level perspective.
Bookings must be made by an adult aged 18 or over, and at least one adult must accompany any junior paddlers on the water. All participants are required to wear the provided buoyancy aids throughout their time on the river. Arriving a few minutes early allows time to fit equipment properly and get ready to make the most of your hire period.
The kayaks are suitable for small dogs, and a limited number of dog life vests are available to borrow. Paddlers should dress for the weather and bring waterproof clothing if conditions suggest rain or wind. Small dry bags are recommended for valuables, and all equipment must be returned by the end of your hire period and off the water by dusk.

There are many places you can paddle in London and on the River Thames including from our base in West Molesey near Hampton Court.
We have have our very own pontoon providing a safe place to start and end your paddling and a lovely stretch of the non-tidal River Thames to explore!
Further afield there are many inland waterways but always check to ensure access is allowed – a surprising amount of UK rivers still do not allow paddling.
Yes, the nearest public parking is at Hurst Park, a delightful open public space in Molesey. It offers a large free car park, toilet facilities, and easy access to the River Thames.
Yes, we understand the importance of securing belongings. We have a private pontoon and can safely lock away bikes and other belongings in our large garden area for your peace of mind.

There are various amazing places where beginners can get started and Surrey and London are home to some excellent spots, including around our base near Hampton Court.
Easy to get to, plenty of access points to get on the water, lovely sights and some welcoming cafes and pubs to relax in after your paddle!
For a more urban experience, the popular central locations in Paddington, Little Venice and Hackney Wick also gain a lot of traction and attention.
If you’d like to experience paddling on the sea the UK has many stunning locations. Always check local conditions including tides and winds, and listen to the locals! – if it's an offshore breeze then it's best to stay on the beach!
Kayaks are mostly considered safe to use and are not easy to tip over. The recreational and touring kayaks we use here are extremely stable.
However, that does not mean that they can’t capsize! But it will really depend on the type of boat, the conditions, your experience and the type of water you are planning on paddling in.

We had a fantastic morning on the river, the sun was shining and Andy was very helpful in his advice of where we could get to in the time we’d booked. All equipment and facilities great too, very handy to have lockers to leave some bags behind. Would definitely recommend!
