Unwind into the weekend with a relaxed paddling session along the scenic non-tidal River Thames. Join a friendly group of adults for a guided two-hour adventure, including a refreshment stop to chat and enjoy the riverside atmosphere. This is a perfect way to paddle, meet new people, and enjoy the water without pressure.
Enjoy a gentle paddle on paddleboards or kayaks with guidance from a local and experienced paddler. While it’s not a formal lesson, the guide can give tips on technique, answer questions, and help with paddling skills during the session.
Take a break at the refreshment stop, which includes both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The session suits all abilities, from confident paddlers to beginners comfortable kneeling or standing on a board. Glide along calm waters, enjoy the riverside scenery, and connect with fellow paddlers.
Launch from our private pontoon on the River Thames in West Molesey, Surrey, providing a safe and easy access point for your session. The non-tidal section of the river is quiet and calm, ideal for a relaxed social paddle.
The surrounding area offers beautiful riverside views and plenty of wildlife to spot as you go. It’s also within reach of local pubs, cafes, and parks, making it a perfect spot for a casual outing on the water.
Participants should be able to paddle forwards, turn, and stop. Paddleboard users need to be comfortable kneeling or standing, while kayakers should feel confident handling their boat at a leisurely pace.
All equipment is provided, including boards, kayaks, paddles, buoyancy aids, and waterproof phone cases. If you prefer, you can bring your own board or kayak for a reduced fee, and lockers and changing facilities are available onsite.
Sessions are led by local paddlers with extensive experience on the River Thames. Their knowledge ensures safety and a smooth experience while allowing participants to enjoy a relaxed, social atmosphere on the water.
As a Paddle UK Delivery Partner and BSUPA member, the team follows strict safety standards, giving you confidence that your adventure is well-managed. The focus is on enjoyment, friendliness, and helping everyone get the most out of their time on the river.
Participants must have basic paddling skills, including the ability to paddle forward, turn left and right, and stop. Comfortably standing or kneeling while paddleboarding is required.
We recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable clothing suitable for water activities. You may also want to bring a change of clothes for afterwards.
Yes, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments are included during our stop along the river.
We are based on the towpath in West Molesey. It’s an easy place to walk and cycle to and we encourage all our customers to do that if possible – we have plenty of space for bike storage.
If you are driving, the nearest free public parking is at Hurst Park.
That depends…
Kayak paddling is often thought to be easier you’re sitting down! Most recreational kayaks are pretty stable and easy to paddle and you use a paddle with a blade at either end which means you’ll travel further, faster with the same amount of effort compared to paddling a board.
Kayaking is great for longer distances due to added comfort.
Having said that, paddleboarding is not hard! Most people are able to stand during their first lesson and start to understand the joys of stand-up paddling.
It’s a relaxing way to spend time with family and friends and helps improve your fitness, both physically and mentally.
The amount of weight a paddle board can support is genrally determined by it’s size – the bigger the board, the more weight it will support.
The average 10’6″ paddleboard can support approximately 110KGs
However, there are boards that can support much more, so it’s just a matter of finding the right board for your size.
Likewise, a lighter paddler might find an average 10’6″ board too cumbersome to paddle and there are smaller boards that would be more suited.
Kayaks are mostly considered safe to use and are not easy to tip over. The recreational and touring kayaks we use here are extremely stable.
However, that does not mean that they can’t capsize! But it will really depend on the type of boat, the conditions, your experience and the type of water you are planning on paddling in.
Wonderful service, great place and really friendly! Thoroughly recommend!
We had a fantastic morning on the river, the sun was shining and Andy was very helpful in his advice of where we could get to in the time we’d booked. All equipment and facilities great too, very handy to have lockers to leave some bags behind. Would definitely recommend!
Had a great Kayak session with Andy. A knowledgable, friendly and interesting guy and gave me the confidence I needed to start going out on my own kayak reguarly.
