Dive into the underwater world after dark with the PADI Night Diver Specialty course. Night diving transforms familiar dive sites, revealing marine life and behaviours unseen during the day. This course equips you with the confidence and practical skills to navigate and enjoy nocturnal dives safely.
The course starts with online theory lessons covering essential night diving concepts, including dive planning, equipment use, and safety protocols. You’ll learn how to operate dive lights, plan a safe dive route, and communicate with your buddy underwater.
During practical dives, you’ll apply these skills in real underwater conditions. Instructors guide you through low-light navigation, buoyancy adjustments, and emergency procedures, providing hands-on practice while observing nocturnal marine life.
Exploration during night dives introduces you to creatures and behaviours hidden during daylight hours. From bioluminescent organisms to nocturnal predators, these dives offer a unique perspective on the underwater world and help build your overall diving confidence.
Training takes place at Littlehampton Marina, with access to calm, sheltered waters ideal for night diving practice. These sites provide a safe environment for refining techniques while still offering engaging underwater experiences.
Nearby dive locations are selected for their biodiversity and low-light suitability. The centre ensures you can safely explore nocturnal marine activity while applying newly learned navigation and safety skills.
Divers should hold Jr/Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent qualification to demonstrate essential scuba proficiency. A medical screening confirms you’re fit for low-light underwater activities.
Basic skills in dive planning, equipment handling, and underwater problem-solving will enhance your experience. Instructors provide hands-on guidance to help you build confidence in night diving scenarios.
The centre employs experienced PADI instructors with extensive night diving expertise. They provide tailored coaching, ensuring you develop safe and effective night diving techniques while enjoying the unique underwater environment.
Personalised attention in small groups allows you to practise essential skills under expert supervision. Modern facilities, high-quality equipment, and carefully chosen local dive sites combine to create an engaging and safe experience.
Night diving involves exploring familiar dive sites after dark, where marine life behaves differently. The course teaches you to navigate, communicate, and observe marine creatures in low-light conditions.
Instructors guide you through practical exercises using dive lights, allowing you to enjoy the experience safely while observing nocturnal species.
The course begins with eLearning covering night diving theory, including planning, equipment, and safety considerations. This is followed by two practical open water dives under instructor supervision.
Each dive builds on skills learned during theory, including navigation, communication, and low-light observation, providing a complete hands-on experience.
All necessary scuba equipment is provided, including dive lights suitable for night use. You may also bring personal gear if preferred, with instructors assisting in setup and configuration for safe diving.
Dive lights are essential for illuminating your surroundings and signalling to your buddy, ensuring effective communication and safety throughout each dive.
You must have Jr/Open Water Diver certification or equivalent. This ensures you have the foundational skills needed for safe night diving.
Instructors provide additional guidance during practical dives to bridge knowledge gaps and reinforce skills in low-light conditions.
You’ll practise navigation, buoyancy control, and buddy communication using dive lights. Observation skills are also developed to recognise nocturnal marine behaviour.
These skills enhance your confidence underwater, preparing you for night dives independently or as part of further advanced training.
Theory can be completed online at your own pace. The practical component consists of two open water dives, typically completed over a single day.
This flexible approach allows you to prepare thoroughly and practise essential skills under controlled conditions.
