Taking your first steps into the world of diving and aiming for professional status has never been more achievable. This complete beginner-to-pro programme takes you from your first breath underwater through to becoming a qualified Divemaster. Each stage is carefully structured to help you build confidence, technical ability, and leadership skills while gaining real experience across UK coastal dive environments.
Training begins with comprehensive knowledge development, combining online and classroom sessions. You’ll start with fundamentals in the Open Water course, then progress through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response, and finally Divemaster theory. Lessons cover dive planning, leadership, safety, and environmental awareness, supported by official PADI eLearning materials and instructor guidance.
Pool sessions build practical skills in a controlled environment. You’ll master buoyancy, trim, rescue techniques, and assisting others underwater. As you advance, you’ll gain hands-on leadership experience by supporting student training sessions, ensuring a smooth transition from learner to professional diver.
Open water dives are conducted at local UK sites from Littlehampton Marina. From coastal reefs to sheltered lakes, you’ll apply your skills in real-world settings, tackling deep dives, navigation challenges, and emergency simulations. During the Divemaster stage, you’ll supervise certified divers under instructor oversight, preparing you for professional responsibilities and further career opportunities.
Littlehampton Marina serves as the course base, with easy access to excellent coastal dive sites. Nearby Bognor Regis and Selsey offer diverse environments for both shore and boat dives. These sites feature reefs, wrecks, and abundant marine life, providing practical settings for skill development and specialty training exercises.
The marina facilities include modern classrooms, a heated pool, and equipment preparation areas. This fully equipped environment ensures a safe, comfortable, and focused training experience for every stage of your beginner-to-professional pathway.
Divers must be at least 18 years old and able to swim 200 metres unaided, plus tread or float in water for 10 minutes. A medical declaration confirming you’re fit to dive is required before participation. Each qualification—Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Emergency First Response, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster—must be completed in order, with sufficient logged dives at each stage.
The PADI Divemaster fitness test includes timed swims and rescue assessments, ensuring you’re confident and capable in the water. Previous experience is helpful but not essential if you’re dedicated and comfortable learning in both pool and open water settings.
Instructors provide consistent mentorship and hands-on guidance, supporting you from your very first breath underwater to professional Divemaster certification. The team focuses on skill development, safety, and personalised progression at every stage.
High-quality facilities and equipment, including a heated pool and modern classrooms, create a controlled environment for learning and skill practice. Small group sizes allow for focused attention, helping every diver achieve their goals efficiently and confidently. Membership in the diving community also provides ongoing support and networking opportunities for new professionals.
