This course introduces you to the full fundamentals of freediving through structured theory, confined-water breath-hold work, and open-water depth sessions. It is designed for beginners who want a complete foundation in freediving technique, safety, and body control, with depth targets of 10–15 metres.
The course begins with knowledge development completed via eLearning or instructor-led sessions when needed. Topics include freediving physiology, breathing cycles, equalisation techniques, and risk management. This foundation prepares you for controlled practice in the water, ensuring you understand how technique, relaxation, and safety procedures work together during a freedive.
In confined water, you will learn breath-hold skills and develop static and dynamic apnea performance. Guided practice focuses on body alignment, finning efficiency, smooth turns, and the mental aspects of staying calm during breath-hold work. These exercises build confidence and refine your technique before moving into open water.
The open-water sessions introduce free immersion and constant weight dives to depths of 10–15 metres. You will practise progressive descent, controlled equalisation, streamlined positioning, and ascent stability while maintaining close contact with an instructor-managed safety system. The course emphasises proper buddy procedures and safety roles, giving you the confidence to train responsibly in the future. By the end, most participants achieve the performance goal of a 10-metre constant weight dive.
Confined-water sessions take place in controlled conditions ideal for breath-hold training. The calm environment allows you to focus entirely on technique, relaxation, and efficient movement. Horizontal lines and markers support consistent dynamic practice.
Open-water sessions take place at a site with stable depth profiles, anchor lines, and clear conditions appropriate for beginner-level freediving depth work. The setup includes surface floats, descent lines, and instructor-managed safety systems to ensure controlled progress throughout the depth phase.
Participants must be at least 15 years old with adequate swimming ability and confidence in the water. No prior freediving or snorkelling experience is required. The course introduces all skills from the beginning and progresses at a controlled pace.
Comfort with face immersion, basic fitness, and the ability to follow instruction are important. Completing knowledge development in advance helps you make the most of the water-based sessions.
You’ll train with instructors experienced in developing freediving confidence and technique in beginners. Their structured approach ensures each skill is introduced safely and clearly, building your ability step by step. Attention to breathing preparation, body position, and efficient movement helps you progress quickly without feeling pressured.
Facilities and training environments are set up to support both horizontal and depth-based work, with reliable safety systems and well-maintained equipment. This course offers a strong foundation for anyone wanting to continue into deeper freediving levels or refine breath-hold skills for recreational use.
The PADI Freediver course is a structured introduction to both the theoretical and practical aspects of freediving. It covers breath-hold development, equalisation, relaxation techniques, and efficient movement. The training progresses from confined-water practice to open-water depth dives.
By the end of the course, you complete static and dynamic apnea sessions and perform constant weight dives in open water. This makes it a complete beginner-level path for anyone wanting to explore freediving safely.
No previous experience is required. The course begins with foundational skills and gradually builds your abilities in line with your comfort and performance.
Participants with snorkelling or breath-hold backgrounds may progress more quickly, but the course is designed to accommodate absolute beginners.
The performance goal is a constant weight freedive of around 10 metres, with some participants comfortably reaching up to 15 metres depending on equalisation ability and comfort. Instructors ensure progression is safe and gradual.
Depth is never forced; technique and relaxation are prioritised over achieving a specific number.
You will learn breath-up routines, static and dynamic apnea, equalisation techniques, streamlined body positioning, finning technique, and mental strategies to improve comfort and control. Open-water skills include free immersion and constant weight diving.
Buddy procedures, rescue basics, and safety systems are core components to ensure responsible freediving practice.
The course is typically completed in one to two days, depending on scheduling and how quickly participants progress through confined and open-water components. Each day involves around six hours of structured training.
Flexibility allows instructors to provide additional time where needed without compromising safety or comfort.
Bring swimwear, a towel, slippers or poolside footwear, and a refillable water bottle. All freediving equipment—fins, mask, snorkel, wetsuit, and weight system—is provided, though you are welcome to bring your own if preferred.
Comfortable clothing for briefings and rest periods is recommended.
Freediving requires calm mental focus rather than intense physical strength. You should be comfortable swimming and able to relax in the water. The course is designed to introduce skills gradually so that participants of varying fitness levels can participate safely.
Proper hydration, rest, and avoiding heavy meals before training can also make the session more comfortable.
Safety is a central part of the course. All confined and open-water sessions use structured buddy systems, surface support, line setups, and instructor oversight. Skills such as rescue basics and controlled ascent techniques are built into the training.
By learning correct procedures from the beginning, you develop safe habits that apply to all future freediving activities.
Yes. Completing the PADI Freediver certification prepares you for the next levels, such as Advanced Freediver and Master Freediver. The skills learned here—especially equalisation, streamlined movement, and buddy safety—form the foundation for deeper training.
The course also helps identify areas for development, such as improving breath-hold duration or refining finning technique.
You can schedule your preferred time by contacting the academy via call or WhatsApp. After confirming the date, payment must be completed within two days to secure your place.
Multiple payment options are available, including cash, card, bank transfer, or a secure payment link. This ensures a smooth booking process before training begins.
