Explore the dramatic fjord-like coastline of Musandam on a traditional dhow cruise from Khasab. This full-day experience includes dolphin watching, snorkeling stops at Telegraph and Seebi Islands, and a traditional Omani lunch served onboard. Relax on cushioned seating as the dhow cruises through calm waters surrounded by rugged cliffs and small fishing villages.
The cruise begins at Khasab Port where guests meet the crew and board a traditional wooden dhow. After departure, the boat travels along the Musandam fjords, an area known for steep cliffs, quiet coves and small coastal villages.
Dolphins are often spotted in the waters near the entrance to the fjords, and the captain may slow the boat to allow guests to watch them swimming alongside the dhow.
The first stop is Telegraph Island, where guests typically spend around an hour swimming or snorkeling in clear water. Snorkeling gear and life jackets are provided, and the calm conditions make the area suitable for beginners.
While cruising to the next stop, lunch is served onboard. The traditional Omani meal usually includes rice, chicken, salad, bread and fruit.
The dhow continues to Seebi Island for a second snorkeling and swimming stop in a sheltered bay before returning along the coastline to Khasab Port.
Khasab is located on the Musandam Peninsula in northern Oman. The region is often referred to as the “Norway of Arabia” because of its fjord-like coastline formed by steep mountains dropping directly into the sea.
Telegraph Island sits within one of the main fjords and takes its name from a 19th-century British telegraph station that once operated there. Seebi Island is another sheltered location commonly used for snorkeling and swimming.
No previous snorkeling or boating experience is required. Snorkeling equipment, life jackets and towels are provided.
The cruise is not recommended for pregnant travellers. The dhow is not wheelchair or stroller accessible, and pets are not permitted.
Operating across multiple destinations and having welcomed more than 50,000 travellers, this team focuses on organised marine excursions led by experienced captains and crew.
