



Welcome to our Fundamentals course, designed to teach you the essential skills needed to confidently navigate trails. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned rider, our session ensures that you grasp the foundational techniques to enhance your biking experience.
In this session, we'll begin by establishing the essential body position necessary to tackle various aspects of the trail. You'll learn to develop skills in cornering, which will help you maintain speed and balance. The session will cover wheel lifts and hops, providing you with greater mobility and control. Through simple and progressive exercises, you'll cultivate good habits and self-awareness, ensuring you ride safer, smarter, and faster.
Our course content includes mastering the ready position to understand correct body positioning on the bike and its importance in every aspect of mountain biking. You'll create control through proper positioning, dynamic movements, gearing, braking, and line choice. We’ll teach you the techniques for flat corners, focusing on where to look and how to move to create grip and speed when turning. Lastly, you'll learn wheel lifts and hops, essential tools for trail navigation and the first step towards jumping.
The course takes place at Ashton Court Nova Trail and estate grounds in Bristol. This Blue graded trail provides an ideal environment for learning and practising fundamental mountain biking skills.
Ashton Court offers a varied landscape with a mix of forest trails, open spaces, and scenic views of the city, making it perfect for riders of all skill levels.
This course is for riders new to mountain biking or those who have never had coaching with us before.

With our qualified instructors, you can rest assured you are in safe hands while pushing your limits. All our instructors are certified through the MBLA, British Cycling, or MIAS. They possess a deep understanding of the physics of bike control and continuously refine their coaching techniques.
At our centre, we believe in making you feel the difference, not just explaining it. Our drills and techniques enable you to explore various body movements and their effects on bike control. We break down advanced skills into manageable chunks, ensuring every rider can achieve real progression.
We conduct courses in all weather conditions, and the trails at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods are suitable for various weather.
However, we may cancel or postpone sessions due to dangerous weather conditions or heavy snow. In such cases, you will be entitled to a refund or the option to reschedule.
Yes, we offer bike hire for a flat rate of £10 for public or bespoke sessions starting at Ashton Court.

The trails at Ashton Court and Leigh Woods cater to all skill levels. Riders of all ages and abilities, from balance bikes to e-bikes, use these trails.
While some sections are challenging, there are alternative routes to avoid more difficult areas. However, even less challenging routes still carry some risk.
