Take on Dubai's highest dunes for an hour behind the wheel of a powerful 4x4 buggy, led by a professional desert guide through the Red Dunes at Al Badayer. Hotel pickup across the city is included, so the seven-hour day covers the return journey as well as the time spent out on the sand.
After pickup, the drive out to Al Badayer takes a while given the buggy's popularity for reaching Dubai's tallest dunes, so guests get a proper look at the changing landscape as the city gives way to open desert. Once there, a guide runs through a full briefing before the group sets off behind the lead vehicle for around an hour of dune driving.
The pace is steady rather than rushed, with regular stops built in so drivers can take photos and catch their breath before the return transfer back into the city.
Al Badayer, often referred to locally as the Red Dunes, sits inland from Dubai and is known for having some of the tallest dune formations in the emirate. The sand here rises in steep, dramatic ridges that make it one of the more demanding spots in the region for buggy and quad driving, which is part of why it's used for this activity rather than the flatter dunes closer to the city.
The drive out takes guests through a stretch of changing scenery, from Dubai's outer suburbs to open desert roads, before arriving at the dune field itself. It's a genuinely different environment from the city, with long sightlines across the sand and, depending on time of day, some striking light as the sun moves across the dunes.
Drivers must be at least 13 years old, and while no previous buggy or off-road driving experience is required, a reasonable level of physical fitness helps, since the ride involves gripping the wheel and reacting to the buggy's movement over steep dune faces for the full hour.
Anyone with back, neck or heart conditions, or who is pregnant, should check with their own doctor before taking part, given the bouncing and sudden movement involved in dune driving. Closed shoes and comfortable clothing that can get dusty are recommended for the day.
The guide leading each group knows the Al Badayer dunes well, choosing a route through the steeper sections that keeps the ride engaging without putting drivers into terrain beyond their ability. Buggies are checked before every group heads out, and the briefing covers exactly how the vehicle handles before anyone sets off.
Because hotel pickup is arranged across Dubai, there's no need to organise your own transport out to the desert or worry about navigating back afterwards. The whole day is planned around getting guests safely to the dunes, through the drive itself, and back again with the minimum of fuss.
You will be collected from your hotel, apartment, or villa anywhere in Dubai. Share your accommodation details when you book so the team can confirm the pickup window before departure.
Because the vehicle collects guests across the city, exact times can shift slightly with the route. After the dune drive, drop-off is back to the same place you were collected from.
About the centre
Dubai
Based in Dubai, this team specialises in desert safari experiences across the red dunes, combining jeep rides, quad bikes, dune buggies, camel stops, and evening camp dinners. Guests are collected from hotels, villas, and apartments in Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, so the day starts from where you are staying rather than a fixed meeting point in the city.
Activities are led by guides who know the dune routes and camp programmes well, with equipment provided for the adventure elements. Whether you want a high-energy buggy run or a fuller evening with dinner and shows, the focus is a clear, well-paced desert day from pickup through to return.
