Knowing how to respond quickly and effectively in a child or baby emergency can make all the difference. This Emergency Paediatric First Aid qualification gives you the practical skills and confidence to handle a variety of incidents, from minor injuries to life-threatening situations. It’s designed for anyone with responsibility for the care of children or infants.
You’ll start by learning the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, focusing on what you need to do in the first moments of an incident. The course mixes practical exercises with discussion, so you can practise key skills like CPR on manikins, the correct use of an AED, and positioning a child or baby safely in the recovery position.
As the session continues, you’ll explore common paediatric emergencies, including choking, seizures, and shock. You’ll also cover how to respond to wounds and minor injuries, learning practical techniques that you can apply immediately in real-life scenarios. By the end of the course, you’ll feel confident in your ability to manage a range of paediatric emergencies safely and effectively.
Training is delivered directly at the client’s premises, allowing sessions to be tailored to the specific workplace and the type of environment staff operate in. This ensures the content is directly relevant, with examples and scenarios based on the setting participants are familiar with.
Holding the training on-site also removes the need for travel and reduces disruption to the working day. All necessary equipment and materials are provided, and sessions can be scheduled at times that best suit the team’s routine and operational needs.
You must be aged 16 or over to attend this course. There are no other formal requirements, though you should be physically able to carry out practical tasks such as performing CPR on a child or baby.
A sufficient understanding of written and spoken English is recommended to follow instructions, complete the assessments, and get the most from the course.
The centre delivers high-quality training that is both practical and compliant with national standards. Instructors provide hands-on guidance and support, ensuring you leave with the skills and confidence to act effectively in paediatric emergencies.
Courses are OFQUAL regulated and meet all Health & Safety requirements. Training here gives you peace of mind that you are prepared to handle incidents safely, whether in the workplace, childcare setting, or at home.
