During this adventure, you’ll explore the beautiful and historic Hele Bay, with views of Ilfracombe harbour, Hele Bay, and, on a clear day, the coast of Pembroke, Wales. The route includes exhilarating jumps up to 10 metres, demanding scrambles, and challenging gully crossings. The proximity to the Bristol Channel, which has the world’s second-largest tidal range, means conditions can change rapidly, adding an extra layer of excitement to your adventure.
Our coasteering route is designed to push your limits, but your safety and enjoyment are paramount. You'll traverse rocks, swim through open ocean waters, and leap from various heights, all under the guidance of our experienced instructors. Adventure by choice is our motto—there's no pressure to attempt anything you're not comfortable with, but for those who seek a thrilling challenge, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
Hele Bay is located in Ilfracombe, a beautiful area known for its historic smuggler’s cove. The meeting point is at Hele Bay public car park, 33 Watermouth Rd, Ilfracombe, EX34 9QY. This scenic location offers stunning views and a unique coasteering experience, with easy access to the Bristol Channel and its dynamic tidal conditions.
Participants must have a good level of fitness, be able to swim 25m unassisted in an open ocean environment, and have confidence in low-level traversing/scrambling. You must also bring suitable, sturdy lace-up footwear (trainers are ideal).
We believe in quality over quantity, capping our public sessions to a maximum of only six people. This ensures a personalised and attentive experience, allowing you to get the most out of your adventure.
