The BSUPA Level 1 Instructor Training Course (ITC) is a comprehensive 2-day program run in collaboration with the British Stand Up Paddleboarding Association (BSUPA). The course aims to produce skilled and professional SUP instructors with a strong focus on safety, communication, and representing the sport and BSUPA well. The curriculum includes the BSUPA teaching scheme, practical water assessments, candidate-led presentations, theory lectures, and a theory test.
You must be a competent paddleboarder to undergo an instructor training course. Please ensure you meet the following requirements before choosing to enroll on BSUPA ITC L1.

If you're already a BSUPA-certified Level 1 instructor and have teaching experience in various water conditions, the BSUPA Level 2 Instructor Training Course (ITC) is your next step. Designed for those looking to advance their careers, this course allows you to serve as the principal manager in charge of SUP operations at any BSUPA-recognised school. The training covers higher-level instruction techniques for guiding ready-to-ride paddlers on basic tours in various water environments, including small surf. It also delves into business elements like staff management, safety systems, and legal requirements for running a school.

Yes, you must have a valid BSUPA Level 1 instructor qualification, along with 100 hours of logged teaching experience in a BSUPA-recognised school.
Successful completion of Level 1 qualifies you to work as an instructor in a BSUPA accredited school within specific environmental conditions.
With Level 2, you can work as a senior instructor and are eligible to apply for BSUPA accreditation to run your own school. You may also be endorsed for Race, Surf, and Tour SUP instruction.
While most candidates bring their own SUP kit and wetsuit, these can be rented from the training centre if needed.

Otherwise, you are welcome to submit a booking request and ask any questions in the comments section for a direct response from the centre. You will not need to pay until your spot is confirmed once all questions have been answered, even once you submit a booking request. Please note that the centre may well ask you some further questions too, just to check your suitability for the level you have selected.
