What is BSUPA?
The British Stand Up Paddle Association (BSUPA) promotes safe, accessible stand-up paddleboarding across the UK. It certifies instructors and accredits schools to deliver structured beginner sessions and instructor training on flat and sheltered water.
Ready to Ride is the popular entry award for new paddlers, covering kit, paddling technique and safety on calm water. BSUPA Level 1 Instructor qualifies you to teach beginners in sheltered environments and is the first step on the professional instructor pathway.

Choosing a course
Ready to Ride suits anyone new to SUP who wants a structured introduction before hiring kit or joining club paddles. Level 1 Instructor is for experienced paddlers moving into teaching; you will need confident paddling, rescue skills and often a first aid certificate.
Centres run courses on lakes, estuaries and sheltered bays. Check wetsuit hire, board types and whether the instructor course includes assessment in one block or split days. Leave a comment when you book if you are unsure which award matches your experience.
Official standards
BSUPA course standards and school accreditation are published at bsupa.org.uk. Your accredited centre confirms prerequisites, water conditions and what is included when you book on adventuro.
