Atlas footpaths open the week with a full Toubkal massif day hike from Imlil before the route bends south-east through Todra, Merzouga and the Draa Valley toward Agdz. Summit pressure is lower than on dedicated Toubkal climbs because day one stays on viewpoints and village paths without aiming for the 4,167 m crest, though you still need hill fitness for roughly six to seven hours on foot.
Merzouga free time offers rest or nomad visits before Agdz palms and Ait Ben Haddou on the homeward leg across Tizi n’Tichka. Mules support the mountain day while drivers and desert guides handle the longer road stages, hotel nights and a desert camp with sunset camels into Erg Chebbi.
The same vehicle crew and guide team stay with you around the entire loop, avoiding fresh bookings in each town. You keep one familiar driver and leader from Marrakech pickup to final evening drop-off.
One demanding hiking day plus several desert icons suits travellers who want gorges and dunes without a multi-day alpine summit push. Meals on trek and desert stages follow the plan confirmed when your dates are accepted.
Morning pickup from Marrakech leads to Imlil, where mules load soft bags before you set out on a full-day loop through walnut terraces and high viewpoints around the Toubkal massif without aiming for the summit.
A village guesthouse near Imlil hosts dinner and a comfortable night after roughly 6 to 7 hours on foot. Meals included: lunch and dinner.
After breakfast you cross the High Atlas via Tizi n’Tichka, pausing for photos at viewpoints and tea stops in Berber villages as the landscape opens toward the pre-Sahara.
Late afternoon brings you to the Dades Gorge area for a hotel or guesthouse night. Driving time is typically 5 to 6 hours with breaks. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
A short walk between Todra’s limestone walls precedes the southbound drive to Merzouga at the edge of Erg Chebbi. Camels carry you into the dunes for sunset.
Dinner and music at a desert camp follow the ride. Meals included: breakfast and dinner; lunch may be taken en route.
Optional sunrise from the dunes, then a free day to visit a nomad family, explore on foot or relax at camp or hotel away from the road.
Your guide helps plan light activities so you are ready for the long transfer toward the Draa Valley on day five. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
The route follows the Draa River through kilometres of date palms, kasbah ruins and small market towns before settling near Agdz.
Overnight in the Agdz area with time to stroll the palm groves at golden hour. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
Morning departure crosses back toward Ouarzazate for a guided visit to Ait Ben Haddou’s UNESCO kasbah walls and film-set alleys when timing allows.
The final Atlas crossing returns you to Marrakech in the evening with drop-off at your riad or hotel. Meals included: breakfast and a road lunch where provided.
Round-trip service begins at your Marrakech riad or hotel on day one. The team confirms an exact pickup window once your request is accepted.
At the end of day 6 you are dropped at the nearest accessible point to your hotel or riad. If needed, the driver can coordinate with your accommodation so someone is ready to meet you.
Most trekking kit can be rented in Imlil if you prefer not to travel with full mountain gear.
Round-trip service begins at your Marrakech riad or hotel on day one. We confirm an exact pickup window once your request is accepted.
On day six you are dropped at the nearest accessible point to your stay. Airport pickup on the first morning can be arranged when schedules allow.
Day one is the toughest walking, with roughly 6 to 7 hours around the Toubkal massif without aiming for the summit. Later days are lighter on foot though still involve sun and sand.
Merzouga rest day helps recovery before the long drive back north. Children from seven may join the hiking day with an adult; mention ages when you request dates.
Hotels near gorges, a desert camp night and a guesthouse on day one cover five overnights in varied styles.
Facilities improve in hotels and camp compared with a bare refuge trek, but desert nights are still simple under canvas or lodge roofs.
Day one hiking includes trail lunch and dinner; desert stages follow the hotel or camp meal plan in your confirmation.
Bottled water is wise on long drives; meals in remote towns may run later than city mealtimes. Soft drinks are usually extra.
Day four is kept flexible for nomad visits, extra dunes time or simply resting away from the vehicle.
Guides suggest sandboarding, a longer camel ride or a quiet hotel afternoon depending on heat, wind and how tired the group feels after the Atlas hike.
Light clothing for desert afternoons and warm layers for camp nights balance the packing list.
Day one still needs proper boots and waterproofs in the mountains. A head torch, sun hat and lip salve help in both environments.
Standard travel insurance with activity cover suits the mix of hiking and sightseeing legs.
Confirm trekking on steep mountain trails for day one and general travel cover for road stages and desert activities.
Friends and families book easily; solo travellers use the published one-person pricing where shown.
Photography-focused private tours can slow the pace on the Merzouga free day. Ask when you want a custom departure.
Sandstorms or rare heavy rain in gorges can adjust camel timing or shorten walks.
Drivers may swap the order of sightseeing stops to keep everyone comfortable and safe. We explain changes as soon as decisions are made.
Camp and hotel combinations vary by season; early requests secure the best rooming plan.
Allow at least seven days’ notice when you can. Send your dates and group size and we will confirm the loop as one coordinated booking.
