This three-day journey combines two of Morocco's most contrasting landscapes: the rocky Agafay Desert on Marrakech's doorstep and the green valleys of the High Atlas around Imlil. Day one takes you to a desert camp for your choice of camel, quad or horse activity, sunset views, a traditional dinner and evening entertainment beneath the stars.
Day two transfers to Imlil for a flexible afternoon of village exploration, waterfall walks or a Berber cooking class, with dinner and a guesthouse night in the mountains. Day three starts with a relaxed breakfast before the scenic return drive to Marrakech.
This itinerary is built by a team that knows both the Agafay Desert and the Imlil valley, so transfers, camp logistics and mountain guesthouse stays fit together smoothly. You choose your desert activity and Imlil experience rather than being locked into a rigid schedule.
From hotel pickup to the final drop-off in Marrakech, transport, meals, camp night, guesthouse stay and guiding are organised as one package so you can enjoy desert stars and mountain villages in a single long weekend.
You will be collected from your hotel or riad in Marrakech on the morning of day one, usually around 08:00. Please share your accommodation details when you book so the driver can find you easily.
Day one is a short drive of around 40 minutes to the Agafay Desert. Day two continues to Imlil in about one and a half hours. Day three returns the same way to Marrakech after breakfast.
Night one is spent in a desert camp in the Agafay Desert, where rocky lunar-style landscapes stretch toward the Atlas peaks on the horizon. Tents are comfortable and dinner is served with live music and a fire show under the stars.
Night two moves to a traditional Berber guesthouse in Imlil, with home-cooked tagines, fresh bread and mint tea in a warm mountain setting. Both stays offer an authentic contrast between desert silence and High Atlas village life.
Day one focuses on desert activities and camp life rather than long walking. Day two offers flexible options in Imlil from a short waterfall walk to a village visit or cooking class, all at a comfortable pace.
You do not need prior trekking experience, but comfortable shoes and a reasonable level of mobility help you enjoy the optional walks and camp surroundings.
On day one you can choose between a camel ride, quad biking or horse riding in the Agafay Desert. All three are led by local operators with safety briefings before you set off.
Tell the team your preference when you book so the right activity can be arranged for your group.
Night one is in an Agafay Desert camp with dinner, live music and a fire show under the stars. Night two is in a traditional Berber guesthouse in Imlil in the High Atlas.
Desert camp accommodation is typically in comfortable tents with shared or ensuite facilities depending on the camp. The Imlil guesthouse offers simple rooms with home-cooked meals.
Meals are included throughout: dinner and breakfast at the desert camp on day one, lunch and dinner at the Imlil guesthouse on day two, and breakfast on day three before your return to Marrakech.
Vegetarian options can usually be arranged if you let the team know when you book.
On day two in Imlil you can choose from several activities: a short walk to the Imlil Waterfalls, a visit to the Berber village of Aremd, a cooking class in a Berber house, or time to explore the village and its traditional atmosphere at your own pace.
Your guide helps you pick the option that suits your interests and the time available.
Wear comfortable clothes for the desert drive and camp, with a warm layer for cool desert evenings. For Imlil, bring walking shoes if you plan to hike, along with sun protection and a reusable water bottle.
A small daypack, personal toiletries and any required medication complete the kit. You do not need heavy trekking gear for this trip.
Solo travellers are welcome and often join small groups. Because this is a request booking, the team will confirm dates and group composition with you before your trip is finalised.
Desert camp and guesthouse rooms may be shared with other travellers unless you have booked a private arrangement in advance.
Desert and mountain weather can vary. Your guide and camp team monitor conditions and will adjust outdoor activities if safety requires it.
Evening entertainment at the desert camp runs in most conditions, but outdoor activity timing may shift if wind or heat is extreme.
On the morning of day one, a driver collects you from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at an agreed time, usually around 08:00. The Agafay Desert is around 40 minutes from the city.
On day three, the same service brings you back to Marrakech from Imlil after breakfast, with a drive of around one and a half hours.
Local guides and camp hosts know both the Agafay Desert and the Imlil valley through every season. They handle logistics, activity briefings and cultural introductions so you can enjoy both landscapes without planning each transfer yourself.
English and French are commonly spoken. The team coordinates desert activities, camp meals and the Imlil guesthouse stay as one seamless itinerary.
About the centre
Marrakech
Based in Imlil in the High Atlas, this team specialises in guided mountain treks, day hikes and desert combinations that start with an easy pickup from Marrakech. Routes take in Berber villages, high passes and classic summits such as Toubkal, with local guides who know the trails and the pace that suits each group.
Days are built around real mountain walking and warm hospitality - shared meals, clear briefings and support on the trail - so travellers can focus on the landscape and culture rather than logistics. Whether it is a full-day summit hike or a multi-day trek with overnight stays in the mountains, the aim is a well-organised, authentic Moroccan adventure.
