This flexible overnight adventure takes you from Marrakech to Imlil, the gateway village to the High Atlas, where you choose your own hiking experience for day one. Options range from a gentle walk to the Imlil waterfalls and the Berber village of Aroumd, through a moderate climb to Tizi Mzik pass at 2,489 metres, to a longer route toward Tamatert with lunch at a high viewpoint.
After your chosen walk, enjoy lunch and dinner at a traditional guesthouse in Imlil before a relaxed breakfast with mountain views on day two. The return drive to Marrakech includes optional stops at authentic Amazigh villages along the way.
Local guides know the Imlil valley trails through every season and can match the day's walking to your fitness and interests rather than forcing everyone onto the same route. Groups stay small, briefings are practical, and the guesthouse stay gives you a genuine taste of Berber mountain hospitality.
From hotel pickup to the final drop-off in Marrakech, transport, guiding, meals and accommodation are organised as one package so you can enjoy a real mountain escape without planning each detail yourself.
You will be collected from your hotel or riad in Marrakech on the morning of day one, usually around 08:00. Please share your accommodation details when you book so the driver can find you easily.
The scenic drive to Imlil takes around one to one and a half hours through the High Atlas foothills. On day two you return the same way, with optional village stops en route.
You spend one night in a traditional guesthouse in Imlil, set in the heart of the High Atlas with views over the Mizane Valley. Rooms are simple and clean, with shared or private bathroom facilities depending on availability, and meals are prepared by the host family.
Expect tagines, fresh bread and mint tea in a warm, informal setting where you can rest after your day on the trail. The guesthouse location places you right in the village, within easy reach of the main walking routes for day one.
Fitness needs depend on which hiking option you choose on day one. The waterfall and village walk suits most people with a moderate level of fitness. The Tizi Mzik and Tamatert routes involve around four hours of walking with steady climbs and suit those comfortable on mountain paths.
Tell the team your preference and fitness level when you book so they can recommend the best option for your group.
On the moderate and challenging options you may reach around 2,489 metres at Tizi Mzik or up to 2,700 metres in the Tamatert area. The easier waterfall walk stays lower in the Imlil valley.
Your guide sets the pace and builds in rest stops regardless of which route you choose.

Guesthouse standards vary but all offer an authentic taste of Atlas mountain life. Bedding is provided; bring your own towel and any personal comfort items.
Lunch and dinner on day one and breakfast on day two are included. Expect tagines, fresh bread, salads and mint tea in a traditional setting, often with panoramic mountain views.
Vegetarian options can usually be arranged if you let the team know when you book.
On day one you can choose from three experiences: a gentle walk to the Imlil waterfalls and the Berber village of Aroumd; a hike to Tizi Mzik pass at 2,489 m with around four hours of walking; or a longer route toward Tamatert at around 2,700 m with lunch at Tizi n'Tamatert.
Discuss your preference with the team when you book so your guide can plan the best day for your fitness and interests.
Wear comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots depending on your chosen route, along with breathable layers you can add or remove through the day. Sun protection is important even on shorter walks: hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
For the higher routes, bring a waterproof jacket and a warm layer for cooler moments at the passes. A reusable water bottle and small daypack complete the kit.
Solo travellers are welcome and often join small groups. Because this is a request booking, the team will confirm dates and group composition with you before your trip is finalised.
Guesthouse rooms may be shared with other travellers unless you have booked a private room in advance.
Mountain weather can change quickly, especially on the higher routes. Your guide monitors conditions and may adjust the planned walk if safety requires it.
If weather makes a pass unsuitable, the guide will offer an alternative village or valley walk rather than pushing on regardless.
On the morning of day one, a driver collects you from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at an agreed time, usually around 08:00. Share your accommodation name and address when you book so the driver can find you easily.
On day two, the same service brings you back to Marrakech, with optional stops at Berber villages along the way.
Guides are local to the Imlil area and know the valley trails, villages and viewpoints through every season. They set a comfortable pace, share knowledge of Berber culture and carry basic first aid supplies.
English and French are commonly spoken. Your guide helps you choose the right route for your fitness and makes the most of your time in the mountains.
About the centre
Marrakech
Based in Imlil in the High Atlas, this team specialises in guided mountain treks, day hikes and desert combinations that start with an easy pickup from Marrakech. Routes take in Berber villages, high passes and classic summits such as Toubkal, with local guides who know the trails and the pace that suits each group.
Days are built around real mountain walking and warm hospitality - shared meals, clear briefings and support on the trail - so travellers can focus on the landscape and culture rather than logistics. Whether it is a full-day summit hike or a multi-day trek with overnight stays in the mountains, the aim is a well-organised, authentic Moroccan adventure.
